http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/42987/344/april-9-mock-with-trades?pg=1 1.5 Dion Jordan 1.13 Tyler Eiffert Doesn't go into specifics but the idea I'm assuming is if the Jets get the a 1st and 3rd round pick from TB, would then be able to trade one of their 3rd to Detroit to move up to 5 to take Jordan.
Yeah.. no thanks. Jets are not in position to give up any mid round picks.. especially when this seems to be a good draft for those middle rounds. Plus I'm not too big on Dion Jordan anyways.
With Ansah and Jones available at 9, I'd keep the mid round pick. Wouldn't be too upset if this actually happened though, as long as we retain our original draft picks. Two massive needs addressed with Day 1 starters.
Terrible idea, basically trading revis straight up for Eiffert a tight end. Im not opposed to trading away the best corner of all time for a tight end that won't be nearly as valuable and also an extra pick to trade up to grab Jordan when like someone said ansah or jones should be sitting there at 9. We need all the picks we can get and don't need to be trading up but more so trading down
I really don't understand the hype about Jordan though. I haven't seen much of him, but he just seems like a guy that's getting praised for his combine and measurables. He was highly ranked before it but I just don't see it. He had 5 sacks, no interceptions, and 1 pass defended. That's according to ESPN. I'm not saying that he wont be good or even great, but to me, give me Jones over Jordan any day of the week.
Trading up for anybody in this draft would be an error. We should be going the other way and letting people buy the 9 pick from us. The epitaph on the Bradway/Mangini era will read: they had no confidence in their ability to assess talent so they were always trading up for sure things, most of whom weren't.
No trading up. If trading up is the only way to get Dion Jordan then Jets need to start preparations to draft somebody else. With all the holes on this team it is possible for a 3rd & 4th rounder to start or seriously challenge a starter. Mid-round picks shouldn't be used to move up like that with the #9 pick.
I'm pretty sure that this is Idzik's mindset also. Architects need a lot of bricks to build with. Cornerstones emerge naturally from those bricks. trading lots of bricks for a cornerstone leaves you with just the cornerstone and a few bricks.
this a "house money" scenario. when i opened the thread i was ready to say bad idea. but i can see the logic in it.you still have your full alotment of picks and essentially use the revis picks for a potentially great player. if you hit on it the payoff is a game changing lb. if you miss you gave revis up for nothing but the future cap relief.there is no question tanny would make this move.i think idz is more conservative though. as far as my opinion, i am a gambler so i say let it ride!
If we wind up with the 9th and 13th, here's a more likely trade partner for pick #9 IMO ... (Rotoworld) Coach Sean Payton said the left tackle position keeps him up at night. After losing Jermon Bushrod to the Bears in free agency, the Saints have a gaping hole on Drew Brees' blind side. Payton has repeatedly said he isn't sold on oft-injured Charles Brown, who has battled knee, back and hip woes during his three NFL seasons. Perhaps they'll try to trade up in the draft and nab Oklahoma's Lane Johnson, the consensus third-best tackle available. We get the #15 and another pick in exchange for the #9. That allows the Saints to jump past the Titans (#10), Chargers (#11), and Dolphins (#12), all of whom are in need of OLine help. It has the makings of a nice bidding war in the event Johnson is still there at #9.
me thinks its a universal NO to the trading north idea. southbound is a much better move, especially in this draft.
Good call. We could still get some good help at the 13 and 15 spot plus the added depth from picks from the Saints.
I think Tannenbaum pulled the trigger on a bunch of deals that other people plugged hard for. I don't think he was ever a primary talent evaluator for the Jets.
It's only house money if you've been a good gambler in the past. The Jets need extra picks right now just to make up for the losses in the past.
hmm...thats 6 spots and according to the ole value chart - worth around 300-350 pts. thats a mid 3rd and mid 4th rounder. i would rather get the saints second rounder this year. jets may have to sweeten that pot with a 6th or so.
that would be a real good deal. i wouldnt mind throwing in our 6th for their 2nd or even getting their 3rd and 4th.
see, i don't look at it like that. i see idzic coming in at even money. if he gets the 1st and 3rd from tampa he is now up in the game. what happened before he showed up should not effect how he goes from here so if he wants to play loose i won't kill him for it. but he better hit on the bet or he will be killed for it for years. on a side note,i have a huge yearning to hit the blackjack tables now
