Speaking of analogies, raising a called bet is like coming back onto the field and scoring a touchdown after being tackled out of bounds.

And "re-raising" a called bet is like... I don't even know. Intercepting an on-sides chip block?

(Sorry, not trying to be obnoxious. Just having fun. :breakdance:)

Something fishy here. Either Tampa isn't really offering 1st, 3rd and 6th or Idzik really has a second or a third team in the Revis hunt. I am loving this. We shall see how this plays out.

Assuming it pays off (which I think it will) I agree. I keep hoping reports of another team being interested will surface. Increases our leverage.

It's about time this franchise gets a little good news. Having the 9 and 13 this year would be huge if we could land Jones and Austin. It's kind of ironic and sad that this is good news considering we're trading our best player. However it's for the long term betterment of the team so I'm all for it.

If we do get the 9 and 13, they have to both be impact players. No more of this project BS. I can't believe Jones is so disregarded because of his 40 time. What OLB is ever going to run in a straight line at 40? He was the best defensive player in the best conference of football.

I would love to grab Jones and Warmack/Austin.

If they're looking at Austin and a pass rusher, odds are they'd take Austin first at 9.

  7. Unless Jordan is there, that maybe the wise move. All of the other outside backers have major red flags as top tenners..Meanwhile Austin is what he is. And what he is dramatically shifts this offense's capability from day 1.

Nothing fishy about it. Tampa doesn't want to give up this year's first round pick. It's worth more than next years.

The Bucs are going to make the deal. They just want to make sure they're not bidding against themselves in the process and the only way that happens is if Idzik sticks to his position a bit longer.

Revis was never going to go dirt-cheap. It's taken 6 weeks for that to become clear. Now the Bucs need to figure out of he's likely to be healthy and if they conclude he is they pull the trigger.

They traded 2 current year 1sts for Keyshawn and won a Super Bowl a few years down the road. They're probably going to give up similar value for Revis, just a bit more diffuse because they don't own two 1sts this year. The 14 and the 27 were worth 1,780 on the traditional chart. The 13, 43, 112 and 181 are worth just a bit less at 1,709. That may well be what we're looking at.

Ladies and gentleman, it looks like we just found the GM we all wanted.

This organization is on the brink of turning the corner. Holy shit.

If that is the deal it also makes sense from a different perspective. That would equate to 11 draft picks in 2013. Adding 2014 draft picks doesn't make sense because it appears that Idzik is planning on receiving 3-4 comp picks in 2014. The Jets aren't going to be looking to stockpile more picks in 2014 by accepting deferred compensation from TB. Ultimately this could equate to the Jets pulling in 22 picks over the next two drafts.

Yeah, and from the Bucs perspective as soon as they sign Revis to a deal they're going to realize that the #1 weakness on the team is now maybe the greatest strength. Then they bring Ronde Barber back at safety next to Dashon Goldson and they have a legitimate shot at a deep run next year.

It's a deal that makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Bucs really want to win next year and they've got Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Newton in the way of that.

Strange...I don't recall reading any statements from Revis or his people in regards to the workout issue, only media types speculating (not the same as reporting) that they aren't happy.

Furthermore it's part of his contract. What is there to debate?

Correct, the state and amount of wins will have 85-90% effect on how people will see him as a GM the next 3-4 years but this is a important part of it too and he has been flawless lets be honest could Tanny do what as happened this off-season not let anything leak, sign true upside, young players and realize the draft is where it starts,NO! he would of put a bid in for a big name QB(Alex Smith) and left the rest of our holes open, not that they all are filled but it has been a good effort. Idzik also has great negotiation skills i have noticed that Goodson contract was GREAT numbers. NOW we just have to trust he has good draft skills and can see good talent because that has killed our team too ! Vlad D. wasnt that great of a pick lol... i seen that coming when we drafted him just because he is a big body doesnt mean he can fill up a line. lets pray Idzik can draft !

You just made my point......read the half dozen articles about Mevis not being happy about being asked to be there.....c'mon man........The guy is a constant distraction every year it seems. Are people actually going to argue with me about his history of this????? As I said, love the guy on the field.....I wish he was happily going to finsh his career in green and white and sky was blue and the birds would sing etc......It's not happening guys....that's why we have 56 pages of discussing which team he's going to and I read everyday how the Revis situation is getting uglier and uglier and how much of a distraction it will be if he actually has to report. You can see how this happening every year sets a tone. One guy does it and then everyone else feels they can do the same thing. I'm over it.
Costello...NY Post- type in "Revis not happy". I don't think he's happy!

Yes you are, and that is exactly the point.

No one knows what is going on from our end. He is trading our best player away who is coming off a season ending injury and adding HUGE draft picks to fill holes to make this team a contender. He sees the value in the trade. Our life line is now the draft. The only veterans being signed are those used for depth purposes. He has created competition at every position, including the dreaded QB slot. He has restructured our cap so that we are now $13 million under with room to play.

From the moment he stepped into his new office, he has changed the face of this organization in every aspect of thinking. Yes, we will wait to see what he does in the draft and the upcoming years, but as of right now, he has changed the overall outlook of this franchise.

Mark my words. This man is the beginning of a new Jets organization.

nobody is missing anything. you are confusing the media's constant reporting on Revis with behavior by Revis.
