I'm actually happy about these piss poor articles. I don't think I've read a Jets article in over a month that had any factual content. Cimini, Metha and the rest of the other useless fucks are showing just how good their sources are. Ladies and gentlemen, the circus is over.
nothing new here, but just came across this article on NFL.com Darrelle Revis 'not optimistic' about Tampa Bay trade The Tampa Bay Buccaneers seemed to be the leading candidate to trade for Darrelle Revis, but that might have changed. A source that spoke with Revis told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport the cornerback is "not optimistic" a deal will get done. Rapoport said on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" that Revis isn't looking to leave the New York Jets, but the organization is unlikely to meet his contract demands. The consensus No. 1 cornerback in the league, Revis is looking to become one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL. Revis is set to opt out of his current deal and become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013 season. The Jets have not been shy about entertaining trade offers. But the Jets don't have a ton of leverage. They can hold onto an unhappy Revis for a final year, then lose him to free agency and receive nothing but a compensatory pick. If the Jets want to get this whole ordeal over and gather picks for the 2013 NFL Draft and their current retool, they have three weeks to find a trade partner. The Bucs, however, don't seem eager to give up their No. 13 pick. The Revis drama continues ...
Muck Fevi$ The article is bullshit. The Jets can force a 28 year old CB to play for 6 mil, and risk injury, threatening his career, or sign a friendly deal.
I don't think the trade will happen either. Revis will be a Jet this season and we will sign him long term during the season. no team is gonna pay him what he wants. 7 yr/66.5 mil (33 guaranteed)
Revis has always had a veto on the trade if he wanted it. Just refuse to negotiate with the trade partner. Then he plays a season and goes on the market next year to see what it is like out there. I doubt the Jets will trade him cheaply just to trade him. They're more likely to see what happens in camp and then figure it out from there. While Revis is the Jets most valuable asset in a trade he has other properties that are valuable to the Jets in other ways. He helps the rebuilding process just by playing well in a contract year, which he will likely do if he's still capable of it. If he's not really up to snuff next year, well that's one of the real possibilities and it's why the Jets aren't likely to sign him to an extension at this point. At this point both sides have a real incentive to make a trade work but if Revis wants to rehab on the Jets and see where that leads it's basically his option to do that.
Phantom hammy kills his value on the open market next year. Then it's hammy in 2010, knee in 2012, hammy in 2013. That's not the stuff that record-breaking contracts come out of, quite the contrary.
pretty much his entire article is absurd and based on totally unsubstatntiated BS... but other than that its fine. :breakdance:
No. Actually it doesnt. He can claim the hammy was residue of the rehab, and light it up during private workouts....
Has the big trade that the irresponsible rumor mongering idiots in the media have been telling us about for the past 4 months happened yet???? Hilarious !!!! Complete BS from the likes of cimini and james walker and still a certain segment of the fans lap it up either because they choose to believe anything they read or just b/c they're suckers. articles based on unconfirmed sources are 100% BS about 75% of the time.
Yeah it does. 29 year old with 3 seasons cut short by injury in the last 4 is not getting a long-term contract with a lot of guaranteed money. Short term deal with a big salary payout for a year or two? Maybe. Long-term deal not happening at that point. Revis has to play 16 games next year and play them well to put the injury bugaboo out of sight during his contract negotiations in 2014. This the N-F-L. Superstars get major exceptions made to that basic paradigm but not injured superstars in late prime. They're just as vulnerable as anybody else.
If this is the case (which i question), it's a great argument for not signing him. BTW: DR is 27 & is in his prime. BTW: I like that Idzik isn't playing the media's bs game - fantastic!!
Nitpicking. He was born in July. He will be 28 when he steps on the field. 28 is prime for a baseball player. For a football player, thats about a year from ' a step too slow' Personally, id like him to show more integrity than that, but given the history, Im skeptical.
The trade will likely happen on April 25th if it's going to happen. There is a good chance this is why Idzik has cleared up cap space. The other likely reason for the cap space is to cut Sanchez, but I think it's more likely that moving Revis is the play. Just my opinion. There aren't any big money free agents left and it doesn't appear as if we'll need to carry over cap space to 2014.
Agreed... the Bucs probably want to see what's left at #13 before deciding wether it's worth to trade it or not.
The other outside possibility for the space at this point is to re-sign revis long term andbtake a big hit from that contract this year. I think that's unlikely for several reasons.
Reconcile yourself to the fact. Sanchez isnt going anywhere, And...when the Jets win 10 and return to the playoffs, absent a Kotite season, he is here till 2030.
I agree. If he wants the big contract he is going to have to prove that he is back to form. If we keep him, we may see him have his best season yet.
