Two strange stories related to the Cubs have surfaced. LA-area teams... First Jered Weaver breaks his elbow falling, trying to avoid a line drive. Then last night, Greinke suffers a fractured collarbone. He hit Quentin with a pitch (Quentin constantly among the leaders in HBP when he plays, and gets hit more frequently than Craig Biggio did) and Quentin charged the mound and ran Greinke over.
From what I've seen this is a perfect example of the principle of suspending someone for as long as the other guy can't play. The injury is completely Quentin's fault, and is because of a completely unjusified action, so he shouldn't play until Greinke comes back.
Greinke out for 8+ weeks, Quentin suspended for 8 games. Absolutely gutless move by major league baseball.
Saw it on MLB TV. Pretty bizarre play - he went into second on an attempted steal and went into the slide way too late. His ankle bent in a very nasty way - not a Kevin Ware situation, but it looked pretty bad.
Reyes sucks, he so injury prone and streaky. Every year the talking heads praise him to the moon and every year he goes down and under performs. Wouldn't wish injury on anyone but as a Mets fan I'm glad he's far away from NY.
No way. He didn't do anything more than anyone else when charging the mound. As it is he got too many games. Most suspensions for charging the mound are around 5 games. Just because it was Skeletor on the mound and he decided to lower his shoulder and got hurt doesn't mean Quentin deserves a longer suspension. It's not like Greinke is a saint here either. He was running his mouth the whole time. Both of them should get the standard suspensions for this type of situation.

Roy Halladay is having shoulder surgery and is probably out of the season.
