Will We Select Dee Milliner Or Rhodes If Revis Is Traded?

I have been talking with a bunch of buddies about this lately. The Jets have showed interest in Milliner lately, which kind of shows the Revis trade is bound to happen.

Do you think we select Milliner or Rhodes at number 9?

Here is what I see possibly happening:

    - Revis is dealt right before the draft including TB's #13 pick. We take Milliner or Rhodes at 9 and pass rusher or play-maker at number 13.

    What do you think?

Voted no because Milliner is not going to get to the 9 and I don't think the Jets are going to trade up in the 1st round.

I think it all falls on Cleveland. I see Cleveland as being the main team who would take him. Outside of Cleveland, I don't really see him going anywhere else

    Ok.

Updated the OP. Will we select Milliner or Rhodes at #9 if Revis is traded?

EDIT: Can a mod change the title to include Xavier Rhodes in it?

I can't see him getting past Cleveland, but do t think Detroit or the raiders are out of the question for him.

I don't think the Jets are going to select Xavier Rhodes at the 9. If they traded Revis and took anybody but Milliner on that pick it would represent a reach based on need which I think is not in the Jets operating mode moving forward.

even without revis the cb depth is pretty good. wilson is hated by alot of fans spoiled by revis and cro,but the fact is he would be the #2 cb on alot of teams. trufant played pretty good in the slot and berry has potential.
also replacing revis with a first round rookie adds way too much pressure to that player to be the next revis.

I just don't think it makes sense. We had a good pass defense last year without Revis, so it's hard for me to see CB as a need. You could argue it would be BPA depending on who's on the board if Milliner is there, but most wouldn't view that as realistic I don't think. We could get a real impact player on the 9(pass rusher/Warmack) or maybe a trade down. I'd love to trade down especially if we had the 13 as well, we could fill more needs through the depth of this draft and still be at the 13 to catch a top player that may have fallen a little.

I think that would be a terrible move.

Milliner will go as early as Jacksonville and as late as Cleveland. he'll be going somewhere in there.

Milliner, Joekel, Fischer are the only guys I'm 99.9% will be gone before the 9th pick.

I doubt it. I think we're actually not bad at the CB position compared to a lot of teams, we'll be worse without Revis of course but still not bad enough that it's a huge priority. We have so many holes that the CB position doesn't really register for me at the moment.

If we have the 9 and 13 picks I would like to see us walk away with two of Warmack, Jones, Ansah, Austin or Patterson or maybe Vaccaro. Obviously depending on who is available. I'm assuming Jordan and some of the other big name offensive lineman are gone. If by some strange miracle they aren't I would pick them instead.

If we trade Revis and Millner drops to #9 and we don't take him I'll throw my shoe at the screen he will be the BPA at a position of need, end of story, you have to take him.

*would* the Jets or *will* the Jets? I think the Jets *would* take him if he were available but I don't think it's remotely possible that Millner falls that far, so no, the Jets *will* not draft Millner.

Agreed, I would love to get him, but he will be long gone.

    This.

Essentially is would equate to the JETS trading one of the best CBs off all-time for a young prospect at the same position......and if he's not a stud of a player the pressure of the kid by the media would off the charts

If we trade Revis and then draft CB with extra pick (or with our original pick), does that not defeat the purpose of the trade?

Yes we will save a possible €10m in cap over next 4 years (Revis v rook CB) but is it not a major point of trade(or jet fan rationalisation!) that elite CB play is not a necessity to win SB and that it would be better to convert revis into passrusher/DT and/or o-lineman especially since we had a competent secondary this year absent Revis.

If people truly believe Milliner/Rhodes etc could be Revis in years 2 and 3 at fraction of price then I can agree with drafting CB with Revis round 1 pick otherwise Id question it.

I see StinkyB above said same thing!
