One thing I want to point out also, people get pissed off about Sanchez and his fumbling issues. Did anyone know Geno Smith had 32 career fumbles at WVU? That is asinine! Just say no to Geno. Jets don't have to draft him if they see a lot of negatives in his game

The whole point in drafting Smith is to take the tools he has, develop him and let him learn and grow as a back up then let him play

You guys want a QB to come in and play from day 1 and that aint happenin anytime soon, no prospect in the next 3 years has that right now

So before you right off Geno understand that his positives outweigh his negatives, which are all fixable issues

I find its 24 in 33 games. Where are you getting your stats. Keep in mind his oline is horrible. Not that your hate will let you.

If the Jets take Geno they're going to finish last in the league next year and be forced to either draft another QB (because they're the Jets).

Where are you getting 24? Every scouting report I see, it mentions 32 career fumbles. He did have a sub-par offensive line, but also had 2 NFL caliber weapons on the outside. Big 12 isn't exactly known for having great defenses either. I'm not hating on Geno Smith, I just don't think he's a good fit for the NYJs. I think the guy lacks awareness and instincts, and I have an issue with him running an NFL offense. If the Jets select him and he becomes a beast, by all means I won't mind being wrong. At this point, I don't have much confidence in him. I would rather take a flyer on a sleeper QB late in the draft, or wait until that right opportunity arises.

I'm not saying start him from day one - I don't think he has all the tools to succeed at the next level, and I don't think he's the right fit for the NYJs.

guys tend to be nervous with the answers they give during the pre-draft process and it shows, Geno wants to say all the right things and etc....

that shouldn't stop you from drafting a player

Mike Mayock tonight on Path to the Draft ripped on Geno Smith. He said would not take him in the top 20. Then he went on to say a lot of things about him that described Sanchez. Mayock said Smith has no pocket awareness, poor deep thrower, bad ball security, stares down receivers, missing an alarming amount of wide open receivers for easy TDS and throws the ball late.

We cannot afford to take another Sanchez that we will be destroy the team for another 3+ years. I don't like Sanchez but I would rather go with him for another year than risk the possibility of being stuck with another Sanchez for 3+ years.

WVU had the 8th highest scoring offense in the nation. How could Smith have missed an alarming number of wide open players for TD's in that scenario?

I bet that Baylor game skewed the numbers. Big 12 doesn't play defense at all

I googled Geno smith fumbles. This is the only site i could find it in the stat line o the first page of hits

    http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasycollegefootball/players/playerpage/1700358/geno-smith

I just looked up 5 sites profiles and not a one mentioned the 32 fumbles. Do you have a link to where your finding it? Thanks.

After reading what Mayock said and other scouting reports it got me thinking, Smith might free fall down the draft if he makes it to us at 9 and we dont take him. What if any are the chances he slides the the very end of the first or early second. At that point even with all his issues he might be a steal.

I changed my mind. Fuck Smith!

I want Zac Dysert in the 3rd. Guy looks like he could be one hell of a QB. 6 foot 4 with a 230lb frame. Ran a 4.8 40 and has an awesome arm. Throws on the run extremely well and is very accurate. Love this kid

I'd take him at round 4 but he's not a complete qb yet and a big question mark. He could, I admit, be our future franchise qb though.

I think he'll be gone by 4. We need to try and jump on him in the third. He seems like a great guy who can be worked with to become something special. He has all the intangibles, that's for sure.

Jets organization brought him in for a workout today. Apparently they were thoroughly impressed with him at his pro day. I think this is our guy for the future.

You're going to twist a 70 point win in which Smith threw 8 TD passes into a negative?

Here's my scouting report on Geno Smith

    Positives
-hard worker, film junkie, loves the game
-prototypical QB, loves to sit in the pocket
    -very athletic
-quick release(much improved during the pre-draft process)
    -big arm
    -great thrower on the run
    -great touch on passes

    Negatives
-inconsistent footwork, hops in the pocket(improved it during pre-draft process but has to do it in game action)
-wind up thrower on the deep ball, has to eliminate the wind up and just rip it to keep his target on target
-limited experience under center, in the play action and in a pro style offense. He needs to get acclimated to taking snaps under center more often, working out of the play action and understanding the complexities of a pro-style offense
-has to go through his progressions better

    Player Comparison
-Aaron Rodgers coming out of college, needs to sit at least until the bye week or year 2 unless he makes strides in areas such as, consistency with his footwork(fully removing the hop), eliminating the wind up, understanding a more complex offense and working through his progressions

He also needs to utilize his athleticism more, defense will be hard pressed to adjust to a guy who can beat them with his arm and legs but not rely on his legs in a Michael Vick sense but more like Rodgers
