Thank you. Had to go 13 posts before someone added anything of substance. I've heard that Trestman connection, but people assume that means he is high on Tebow. In truth, that guy probably helped 100 quarterbacks who have come and gone in this league. Problem is, Tebow isn't anything like Cutler. It would have made more sense for Tebow to go to a team that is at least experimenting with running quarterbacks. If Trestman wants another project, I think he'd just draft one and not go with a guy who is STILL struggling as he enters his 4th season. The few spots that are left can and likely will be filled with the draft. Especially if the Jets are going to hang on to Tebow through the draft. teams just aren't going to wait for him, and they don't appear to want to even give up a used jock strap in trade. All this supposed upside, not even worth a 7th rounder and a couple million bucks?
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Teboner 1. Teboner (pronounced Tee-Boner) when a Florida Gators fan hears the name Tim Tebow and gets a boner Steve: Tebow sucks Tod: Damnit Steve, you gave me a Teboner 2. Teboner The act of Defending and/or having a man crush on Tim Tebow. 1. In his heated debate about Tim Tebow, kyle started to get a Teboner. 2. "Tyler, you have such a Teboner right now defending Tim's QB rating." 3. Shane was part of the Teboners club. Using it as an example: BuQ hangs out at a Teboner site while everyone in there strokes each others teboners. Nobody else in unless they are willing to stroke along with them.
Tebow tried to make it sound like he didn't have a choice in going to the Jets. Elway came out and said Tebow had the choice between the two and would have honored whichever his request would have been. Rather than go to his home town, he decided to snub them for the bright lights and New York exposure. Said it gave him a bigger platform. Once people asked about it, he tried to sidestep the issue and say Elway had the ultimate power.... as if he didn't really choose New York. Doesn't get any more cut and dried than that. It is unclear whether he wanted out of the wildcat. Word is, he went and complained about it, said he was a "normal QB" and the result of the conversation was that Kerney got more plays.
What in anything that I ever criticized Tebow about had anything to do with his religion? Dude just sucks at being a QB. Most of my criticism is and always has been his lack of ability to pass. I do criticize his too good to be true persona, but you won't find a post from me anywhere dogging him because of his religion. I did bash him for that speech he cancelled in Dallas, but that had more to do with the pastor being a known bigot than it was Christianity itself. I never bashed Kurt Warner for it. Not Elway either. (HINT: I think Elway is Christian.) I'll give you another hint.... I'm not a liberal.
Hmmm. This is very confusing to me. I guess hate is too strong a word, instead I'll go with dislike.
I can understand you hating on Tebow because you don't think he is very good, but it seems like you've made it a religion to bash the guy. I just looked at your recent post history and you're obsessed with destroying him and his fans. Why? Are you a Jets fan? In case you haven't been paying attention we're rebuilding the franchise and this off-season is extremely important for the future. If you are a Jets fan then why the heck would you even focus on Tebow??? Why?!?!?!? You come across as more unhinged than the people you claim are crazy. Also, he was a good story two years ago and you can't deny that. This season he was never given a chance and jerked around by Rex, Sparano, Tannenbaum and Woody. I mean seriously, WTF did they do to the poor guy?!?!? They should never have signed him if they planned on using him the way they did. If anything, blame Rex for allowing Sparano to send him into the game after Sanchez actually completed a couple of passes and was on a roll. How many times did that happen??? WTF was that?!!?!?!??!? And you want to blame Tebow for getting upset at the end of the season? The man was jerked around all year long and embarrassed by this franchise. It's not his fault that Rex and Sparano misused him.
I was really surprised to see some of the Tebow Superfriends on here questioning people's motives and trying make the discussions personal again (sarcasm). I finally figured out that when someone disparages Timmy to any degree, it causes an emotional response in a lot of you guys (you don't have to admit it, your posts are proof enough), that is why you try to make it personal for dissenters by wanting to talk about their motives, personal beliefs, reasons, sources, etc. People that don't like Tim as a QB will likely never be as emotionally invested as a lot of his supporters, nothing his fans do can change that. Emotional attachment to Tim's career will always be a weakness for a lot of you "fans." I suggest relaxing, don't worry about who is right and who eats crow. If Tim doesn't pan out, the NFL still has a lot to offer fans of good athletes with high moral character, no need to be sad or angry about Tim; he is Matt Leinhart with more NFL starts. Nothing to get worked up about.
I see CC mocking people and seeking out opportunities to mock them but I don't see how talking about "Teboners" is asking someone why they are here, what they believe, what they feel, whether they have a wife/kids/job, etc. Maybe you meant to quote a different post...?
I've been asking the same question of him since he started posting here. His reason for being here is that he feels it's his "civic duty" to save the Jets fans from Tebowmania that the Broncos experienced in 2011. No, I'm not making it up, that is what he says.
Is describing me in terms of stroking peoples' boners or getting a boner for Tim Tebow not personal? How is that related to football?
I can no more destroy Tebow than you can the U.S. Government. I don't go home at night performing rituals to destroy Tebow in some whacky religion you think I made up. Jets fans are in the same place Bronco fans were a year and two years ago when the choice at QB was Quinn, Orton, or Tebow. All 3 sucked, and it started a lot of wars amongst Bronco fans. But the Broncos got Elway and Fox to run things, and in two short years after McDaniels traded away most talent for scrubs, got the team back into the conversation for championship contender. Jets are off to a good start in the front office department. Not sure if Rex needs to go too. Well, they traded for him for the wrong reason. Many Jet fans, and I agree, feel that the Jets made the move for marketing reasons. Gets them into the headlines too and draws national interrest. I don't think even the Jets really knew what they were getting into until Tebow was already on the team and saw the media pester the coaching staff about the backup. Actually, I don't blame Tebow at all. I admired that he finally stuck up for himself and tried to take control of his career while he sat on the bench watchign his career go down the tubes and seeing himself become a gimmick. (Marketing and running plays.) I even created a thread a while back when it happened saying my respect for him might have even gone up a notch because of it. The PROBLEM I am having are the Teboners coming out in force denying it happened or tried to downplay the situation. Why can't they admit he's human, can get pissed off about his situation, and went and complained about it like just about the rest of us would? Same with that lie he told on the way out of Denver trying to suggest he didn't pick New York when everyone knows damn well that he did it for his "platform." Teboners can't even admit THAT much.
Get it right. It isn't just Jets fans I am trying to help here. Tebowmania and the idiocy that comes with it is HIGHLY contagious. This is why TGG quarantined it in this subforum. Check out your headquarters for a good idea on how bad it can be when allowed to go unchecked. Look at my sig. You even told me the quote was out of context when I posted the entire friggin thing in that other thread...
Maybe I'm a Tebow fan who think most of the lunatics that are on his bandwagon are actually hurting him?
Update. Back on original topic. There are rumors now that Tampa Bay might have some interrest in Tim Tebust. Doesn't make sense unless they are giving up on Freeman. They could use a good marketing gimmick though as people keep forgetting Tampa actually has a team.
I am a big Jets fan, been to a couple games the last few years and hoping for a rebound in the coming years. I am kind of in disbelief that the Tebow guys on this board are not the same ones I saw in Denver yet they make the exact same points and follow the same patterns (wish everyone well, passively/aggressively promote Timmy, post "stats", try to make it personal, melt down for a martyr ban, etc). That is disappointing that there are so many of Tim's fans that act this way considering Tim promotes goodwill, integrity and a team player mentality, I think??? I guess a lot of his followers have a "I need to be right at all costs..." complex...must be some personal preference or personality trait they are trying to hide...
Actually, you spend more time in a day posting about how much you dislike Tebow more then the members I have on two pro Tebow forums. So, I think it's the pot calling the kettle black here CC. For someone who lurks at both my forums, do you actually read what is going on? I believe on several occasions I have said (in regards to Tebow having words with Rex towards the end of the season), that I believed Tim should have said something to Rex. And I support him if he did. I don't think anyone should have to put up with that sort of BS. Being told he was going to be played and then benched most of the season. Where on my either of my forums is that played down CC? Not once did any of the fans on either of my forums play down that Tim had words with Rex. We actually talked about it for a whole week when the whole thing went down. Just because people do not keep bringing up the same topic everyday like you do, doesn't mean others haven't discussed what happened. It's called moving on and discussion whats happening here and now. You sit here and claim that the "Tebots" in your own words are so disillusioned by Tebow and see him only one way. Believe what you want, but most Tebow fans feel he needs to work on his mechanics, etc. He is not the worst out there. Just because I like Tebow, doesn't mean I am blind to what he needs to work on.
Actually, a couple of them had been busted over at the Bronco boards. Over at Broncos country, a couple of them stopped posting and started posting over here. One was called out on it and he went apeshit. They didn't like being called post 3-12ers so they are actually registering around at sites around the league in anticipation of Tebow actually landing on one of those teams. Then they can pretend they were there for awhile and subltly bring up, "say, what do you guys think about Tebow being the starter?" Seriously, the registration date and being able to deny they were only there for Tebow was the WHOLE POINT of doing it. ...A couple of them have registrations at DOZENS of sites posting stat sheets and calling doubters "haters," and they think I am weird for trolling ONE of them.
