If they just formed a world football team no. But I just rooted for Lebron James in the Olympics. I just rooted for all these players I wanted my team to beat in the regular season. I'm not a big hockey fan, but I rooted against New York Rangers and rooted for Patrick Kane for USA when it came down to Olympics. I like them for two weeks, then I go back to hating them.

I think the appropriate response was what Pitt did after Canada beat USA in the finals of the Olympics on a Crosby game winner. Pitt I belieave gave Ryan Miller (the USA goalie but BUF player) a standing ovation for the BUF @ PITT game immediately after the Olympics, and there was a scattering of boos for Crosby in Pitt. But once the game started, back to Pitt vs BUF no more CAN/USA cheers.

The thing is, it's just hard for me to follow soccer here. You establish the base of great players/teams here, you will see more worldwide attention. The fans of Seattle and Portland in the MLS are intense nad have a great rivalry I believe. You add more talent, more teams, more exposure, you probably get the same diehard feelings.

The diehard feelings that happen in basketball/football/hockey/baseball here. There isn't one focal sport, it's spread out. You have your college, you have your NHL/NBA/NFL/MLB teams. Where as in Europe, you have your soccer team, they are clearly the best team from that city. There are no other big time sports. Where in America, in NY I have 3 football teams, 3 hockey teams, 2 baseball teams, and 2 basketball teams to choose. All these sprots are playing at the highest level and highest competition. I enjoy all the sprots, have been exposed to all those sports since I was little, I root for teams diehard in all those sports.

    from a week ago:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...-world-cup-qualifier-snow-game_n_2949977.html

ZURICH -- FIFA is studying a protest from the Costa Rica soccer federation, which wants a World Cup qualifier against the United States replayed after losing 1-0 in a snowstorm.

"FIFA will now analyze the content of the letter and next steps will be determined in due course," the governing body said Monday in a statement.

The Costa Rican federation said Sunday that the "physical integrity" of players and officials was affected, "ball movement became impossible" and field markings were not visible in Friday's match played in Commerce City, Colo.

The federation also urged FIFA to punish match officials, including referee Joel Aguilar of El Salvador, for allowing the match to proceed.

Playing a WC qualifier in Denver in March was stupid, but both teams had to play in those conditions, and it's not like the US Federation made it snow. In fact, Denver usually has a pretty temperate climate. What about the heat, humidity, and shitty pitch in Costa Rica? Should we protest that?

I think playing a qualifier in La Paz, Bolivia (elevation nearly 12,000 ft) is more egregious since it is clearly intended to gain a clear physical advantage. With players vomiting and passing out, FIFA might need to step in.

or playing matches in Mexico City, with the altitude, smog, and violent lunatic hooligans.

Good luck to a road team playing there. You can't breathe, and the Mexicans are throwing things at you the whole time.

RM is drubbing Galatasary and they're almost certainly going to advance to the semis.

They're up 3 goals (and the match is still going). Good luck overcoming that in the second leg.

Sweden League -The Mjallby AIF vs Djurgardens IF has been postponed in the 1st half due to crowd violence.

    ======

After Mjallby scored, the fans started throwing beer bottles and debris onto the pitch, apparently.

I've been there and fortunately not to play soccer and I couldn't breathe. It was insane. A few years agao when Ecaudor qualified they played every game in Guayaquil which I think is there capital. Elevation is like 10K. They won every single game there even beating Brazil and Argentina but lost every game on the road. That was an unfair advantage however they shut up their critics when they advanced to the knockout stage of the WC.

This is getting interesting. I don't like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and I want Barca to advance but PSG might shock the world.

Well apple and adobe never came to an agreement so you can't use flash player on any apple products.

    All streams are flash.

It's a big problem because a lot of games use flash as well, and those cannot be accessed by iPads.

Looks like Munich will advance, up 3 in aggregate now.
