I really just want to make the 6th or 7th see...Want to avoid Penguins and honestly dont want to miss the playoffs with this team. It would be gut wrenching
I'm not the biggest Larry Brooks fan, but he nails it here: There has been no edge and no resolve from the Rangers, who don’t even resemble distant cousins from last year’s Black-and-Blueshirts who spit out nails and pucks on their way to storming to the East’s regular season championship before being stopped in the conference finals. The team that led the NHL with 65 fighting majors last season is currently in a four-way tie for 26th/29th in that category with 12 in 34 games, and just four in the last 29 matches.
WFAN REPORTING: Tortorella and Sullivan FIRED! Mike Keenan to be named head coach! Details announced later today!!!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . What's today's date?
I saw this post and my first thought was, "Bullshit, it's April 1st and they should have fired him ages ago."
Very Good- Cally, Steps Good- Nash, Hank, McD Bad- Richie and Gabby (Laurel and Hardy...couldn't score if there was no Goalie) Very bad- Torts ruining Kreids
Callahan scoring that short goal was easily the turning point. He had a pull the team up by the boot straps kind of game. Anybody notice that Cally's had a few goals this year that are umm, significantly more skillful than what we're used to from him? I mean, it's not like he's a straight grinder so it's not a total shock, but he's done his Nash impression on a good number of his goals this year with some toe drags and dekes.
http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/rangers/rookies_strapped_to_bench_vtqJmHdIoGGtqPhbQoYSTP John Tortorella is worried about his rookies. So worried, he hardly played them. In last night’s 4-2 win over the Jets at the Garden, the Rangers coach gave J.T. Miller 7:08 of ice time and Chris Kreider 3:23, neither playing at all in the third period. “We play so many close games, it’s just too many mistakes,” Tortorella said. “But, quite honestly, I’m worried about the two kids. Not that I’m upset with them, I just think the stakes are high, we play so many close games, and I just have to watch how they go through the game and, ‘Do I trust them?’ ” Since Kreider, 21, was recalled from the Connecticut Whale (AHL) on March 20, he has seen his ice time steadily decrease from his second game to last night. During the Rangers’ 3-0 loss to the Canadiens in Montreal on Saturday, Kreider was demoted to the fourth line as Marian Gaborik was bumped up. Miller, 20, seemingly became a fixture among the top six forwards, but for all of his offensive chances, he still hasn’t scored since the second game of his promotion on Feb. 7, a stretch of 23 games. He has also made some ghastly turnovers. “I’m kind of up in the air there,” Tortorella said about his two rookies, “because I don’t want to screw up their development. Stakes are too high right now. So we’ll see where we go.” Although both have been considered untouchable within the organization, the NHL trade deadline is tomorrow at 3 p.m. So..... they take up roster spots, they aren't good enough to play which means they affect how deep on the bench the Rangers can go, but we can't trade them. This is how a professional hockey organization is run?
This team has so many bad goals allowed...But more importantly its the non scoring from our top guys aside from the usuals: Nash, Hagelin, Cally, Stepan that is killing us
I've absolutely noticed that about Callahan, he's been a more "skillful" player this season working in a lot more moves. In the 3rd period, he had a nice toe drag while working away from the net which ultimately set up the Stralman shot on goal and the Stepan rebound. That leads me to assume he's been working with Nash on the side to improve that aspect of his game Also - I can't believe Lundqvist (and the Rangers) don't have a shutout yet this season.
i'm not sure i can bear a double jackrolling at the hands of the much hated penguins without heavy duty illicit street narcotics. hopefully the sabres end their streak cuz if they do not, the rangers will definitely get hammered and the rangers need the points.
Thank you! Hopefully Hank puts the team on his back and the Nash-Steps-Cally line continues to dazzle.
