Not a very flattering scouting report on Smith.

Nolan Nawrocki likes to talk a lot about the work habits and work ethic of black players. Not just QB's, BTW, but lots of black players in general.

He talks about it so much, and about their demeanor so much, that it's hard to believe he doesn't have an agenda.

Written by the same hack who said Cam has a fake smile, yet never met him. Also wrote last year right before the draft that RG3 has major character concerns. Now he comes out and says Geno is not committed and is not a student of the game (which has gone against every report I read) and compared him to two black QBs.

Its all over twitter and many people are calling this guy racist... He praised Barkley for his leadership abilities and compared him to a mix of Brees and Colt McCoy (not sure how that works).

To me, the racist label seems fitting.

If you have a twitter just search "Nawrocki" and you can see what the general opinion is of this guy...

Edit: I wonder who to trust, this hack or Geno's coach...

He talks about their demeanor, but has no ground to speak of it. He did the same with Cam and RG3.

My apologies for posting the guys article. He sounds pretty bad. I have never heard anything bad about RG3 in terms of character or work ethic.

Yeah that fucker is racist - I seriously hate this stereotype, I hope RG3 breaks the barrier by winning the SB. Have scouts never heard of Warren Moon and Steve McNair (RIP)?

The really sad thing is that Nawrocki is similar quality to what Joel Buchsbaum provided for PFW. He's got the goods on future potential and I use him as one of my scouting sources. He just has this huge blind spot with black players that comes out now and then. He says things that are indefensible and uses language that is clearly inflammatory.

It's like a twitch on his part. There's something about certain black players that just ticks him off and then he goes off on it even though it will make him look bad.

Anybody who thinks the QB who leads his team to a 70-63 win while completing 88% of his passes for 656 yards is not a leader, well I don't really know what to say to that. I guess Nawrocki thinks Smith should have been leading the defense last season also so his team could win more games.

    Great.

    ... only to idiots.

    Don't care. Don't care. And don't care.

Then we draft the best DE prospect to come out since Julius Peppers.

    LMAO @ "losing face"

ROTFLMAO @ thinking Indianapolis gives a shit now that they have another HOF QB for the next 12 years.

That guy does sound like a racist nutbar. I'd like to hear how he supports his arguments if he's able to. If so maybe there are character concerns nobody else is raising. Or hear a response from Smith himself.

How is a 21 year old african-american athlete supposed to respond to the kind of criticism that a 50 year old white sports analyst has put out without sounding defensive or angry?

Seriously, how exactly does Smith respond to this?

One of the reasons you don't go off on somebody as an analyst is that there's no way for them to effectively respond without going off on you.

Well, first you don't bring race into it.

Second you systematically go through everything he said and prove him wrong. Example he talks about poor effort in practice so you explain that you're the first on the field and the last off, what type of drills you run, how much time you spend reviewing tape, etc.

BTW, I'm not saying Smith should hold a press conference or something that extreme but he's going to be doing a lot of media spots over the next month and it will be brought up, so I'm just saying he should be prepared and I'd like to hear what he has to say.

If he is going to be the Jets' QB of the future he's going to have to deal with troll journalists who just fabricate shit for attention...if he can't handle this then he can't handle being our QB.

If a Revis trade to the Bucs happens and the Jets get #13 overall pick and Geno Smith falls I think the Jets will pull the trigger, knowing that they can still get a pash rusher at 13. Damontre Moore maybe?

Damontre Moore is a horrible fit for us

Also I think its to the point where Revis is with us at least until before training camp

From what Im hearing, people are expecting things to heat up a few days before the draft. Which makes the most sense.

agreed but if things aren't clear within 3-4 days before the draft I can see it spilling over into training camp time

I want to keep him bad but I'm prepared to lose him at this point
