The Jets gave up the 2nd best completion percentage against last year mostly without Revis. They also were the 7th best in opposing QB rating. Obviously the Jets defense is better with Revis on the field. If you're going to say it's "TWENTY TIMES BETTER" I want to see how you arrived at that. Again, otherwise you're just throwing bullshit out there.

Personally the way I see it Revis allows us the put more men in the box which helps the run D and Rex's blitzing schemes. We dont need elite safeties over the top since Revis and Cromartie pretty much handle their covers one on one, Kyle is fine in the slot which means we can disguise more coverages with our safeties so now opposing QB's have to make adjustments post snap rather than knowing what the hell is going on Revis makes the defense better as a whole, not just the pass D, but the run D, the pass rush, everything
What happened in 2011? We got torn up by TE's and slot receivers. If you allocate all of your resources on the outside, other areas will suffer. Without Bell and Landry, I would expect teams to target of the middle of the field, especially with Revis on the outside. We have a top 10 CB that can shut a receiver down already in Cromartie. With teams going 4 and 5 wide now, Revis can only cover one of those players. With the money that it is expected that he would command (16 mil), the other positions needed to either cover the other players on the field, rush the QB, or put up points will take a hit. Miami signed a very good CB in Brent Grimes coming off an injury also for over 10 million less a year than what Revis is expected to ask for. If it worth it at that point? Especially considering the pick compensation we can receive. Cromartie allows Rex to do a lot of the things Revis does. He may not be as great, but he played at an all pro level.
^Revis won't be getting $16m/per from anyone. The bar is dropping for CBs.... and pretty much everyone other than QB.
If Mario Williams could get over 16 million a season, I have little doubt that a healthy Revis could find at least 1 team to give him 16 million a season.
All offenses, QB and LT, WR on the bubble at the moment 4-3 defenses, RDE 3-4 defenses, ROLB There will be some exceptions for great players and maybe a few for bad contracts but that's how I see it shaking out at the moment.

Or was it twice in '11? Anyway... These two acts of kindness combined with two glorious displays you mentioned surely prove he does everything. I mean these are 4 acts in 2 years? Imagine how many old ladies he could help in another 4 or 5! Surely it's worth measly $16M per year
If a draft day trade for Revis doesn't pan out, and Revis is on the Jets to start the season (re-habbing of course), Idzik will have 8 games to see how Revis recovers and have exclusive negotiation rights to try and get a deal done for the Jets. Other teams will also see how Revis is coming along and could trade mid season for him. With Revis in a wheel chair, you only have one team thinking about him right now. But if he returns to form and is truly dominate, we may have 31 teams VERY interested in trading for him mid season. All this, of course, if Revis turns down our BaFO.
Even if Revis is fully healthy, he's not gonna bring much with an in-season trade. He would've missed their entire training camp. Then the team who picks him isn't even gonna get 16 games out of him.
The NFL is going a different way on CB compensation at this point. It's possible that a big Revis deal could bring that back some but Aso just got cut and none of the other CB's are over $10M a year. It'll be interesting to see what TB has in mind in terms of a contract. I think the Bucs on the clock scenario is a long shot. They're going to have no time to deal with Revis as they're making the decision and they won't be able to hold the Jets responsible if a hasty handshake between them and Revis falls through after the trade. It's going to be extremely risky on their part to make a deal at 13. They have to get this done beforehand. If they file a contract with the league office during the 13 pick window they will open themselves up to tampering charges by the Jets and still have to give up the pick. That could get really ugly. I think it's too risky for them to trade for him in that manner.
Or, trade him for multiple young, low-cost, players who can become major contributors to the team and not take up 10% of the salary cap...
Revis could step onto any field with any team at any time and shut down the best receiver in the league better than the guy they already have that went through training camp. That's just who Revis is. Plus a team that traded for him would be doing it for the long term as well. If the Colts offered to trade Luck in week 8, most teams would pony up.
Luck doesn't have an expiring contract. I'm not so sure this is true, especially if that team doesn't get a contract with Revis beforehand.
thats the sticking point, the timing would be way off since that team would have barely any time to make the contract work for Revis which is why the deal would have to be made before camp starts at the end of the day Revis re-signs with us, Rex stays on for another contract and we build with the them and get back to the 2009/2010 feel
