A part of me doesn't want the jets to pick up a QB in the draft at all, focus on other places, pass rush (OLB), guard, safety, TE, . maybe remove the guard if you can find a solid veteran, but still go elsewhere.

If I heard Geno was picked at 9th i think I'd be upset and stupefied. why not some of the elite pass rushers? did we just skip out on what can be key to defensive dominance?

That opportunity cost says don't do it to me. if you insist on taking one make it in the 2nd or 3rd, a nassib, a manuel unless theres a contingency for the pass rush... I mean why?

A QB can make up for any weaknesses the team may have. If Geno is there you draft him. If not then we draft a OLB. Then in 2013 go with McElroy as the stopgap QB.

Let all be reasonable here ! the obvious thing to do is start sanchez and give the bench warmers reps....... NO ! dont be stupid !

We draft offensive weapons to set up our QB of the future(Teddy or Manziel) up nicely and then we have a good off. and a good def. its simple !

we draft an OLB with #9 pick
by trading revis we grab the bucs pick, then we get Tavon.

    Round 2 we grab Gio.

FUCK GENO SMITH idk what i was thinking.

so we go into the 2013 draft getting weapons for Bridgewater or Manziel

how do we know we'll even have them next year and if you're so sure of that then tell us all the winning lotto numbers so we can hit and buy the Jets

It could be either or neither smart ass the fact of the matter is it seems the 2014 draft class has depth in QB. what the hell am i saying by this ? im saying their are going to be atleast 2 other QB's next year who' stock rises alot. so instead of being a dick and asking me for lotto numbers sarcastically you should look into that. Geno ISNT our QB we have a better chance next year. Geno isnt a#1 prospect in the draft.

I can take a rant good sir no ill will and I love the passion

anyway I'm just saying if he's there you gotta take him because nothing is guaranteed next year, when it comes to QB's you take them while you can

The question is is Geno that much better and worth using the 9 on than say EJ. In the second?

I hope he drops. I want to see if they trade out or take him. Like you say, we do not know if we get a top QB next year. They are hard to get outside of the draft. If they do trade out then maybe they have some master plan. Or they think he stinks.

The way it looks Smith will be on the board at #9, and I'm praying we don't draft him.

Oakland should get Flynn, Buffalo now has Kolb, and even the Cardinals might have thier guy in Palmer. Not one of those teams is waiting for Smith and that should tell everyone, that no one feels he is a 1st rounder.

So with the Jets being the Jets, we will most likely draft the kid and not only burden the next HC but also kill this franchize which is already on life support.

He develops a fondness for aunt Jamarcus's purple drank, gains a hundred pounds and is out of the league in three years?

I voted yes, but its an odd year. I would love an OLB, but I think the every single on of them has some question marks about them. So does smith, but we need a QB as badly as anything else. Outside of the offensive lineman there is not a top end can't miss type of prospect and anyone we take at nine is going to have either skill questions or medical red flags. I would not be unhappy at all with a QB.

    1) Take Geno Smith now, and knowing who we're getting
    2) Take whatever QB we can get in '14, having no idea who that'll be

Those are the options, really - if Geno is available at 9.

People need to realize '14 will not be where we can bank on our future QB, unless we end up as 30th, 31st or 32nd team. The opportunity of trading up to get one of the top 3 picks in the '14 draft will never present itself, they will never let go of those picks.

I watched many WVU games. That is why I said he will not be a top NFL QB. He was not even that great in college. To me, that is an issue. He has plenty of weapons at WVU too. He would miss wide open WR's and some games in 2012 he just imploded and did nothing. And that was against Big 12 Defenses! I'd stay away.

if geno is there at 9, most if not all the top pass rushers are probably gone.

like its been said before, if you need aqb you take a qb. there isno waiting for next year when there is 1 right in front of you

No, no and no. The last thing we should be looking for is some overhyped QB who has big bust potential. Too many other areas to address this offseason. 2014 draft with Johnny Football and Bridgewater is when we want to invest in our franchise QB.

All these pro-Geno people are getting excited that teams in front of us are addressing their qb problems. But doesn't that tell you something? If all of these guys are choosing more expensive retreads over Geno doesn't that indicate they don't think he's worth it? That or it's a foregone conclusion that the Jags are picking him (I hope) so he won't fall to us anyway.
