Ok, I have been reading this around the boards lately and I sure as hell would absolutely LOVE this move. With Buffalo and Arizona making moves at QB now, there is a much larger chance Geno Smith falls to us at 9. Now, with Grimes off the market, Tampa Bay, from what it seems, will be dead set on getting Revis, which in turn, would require them to give up their 13th pick.

Now, with the 9th pick the Jets take Geno Smith and with the 13th, the Jets take Tavon Austin.

    Yes or no?

I would be all in on this one. With a WCO, that could be deadly!

If the Jets take Smith on the 9 I would certainly accept Austin on the 13.

I said no but the phrasing is a bit weird. If the Jets draft Smith I will support him because he's a Jet. I will hope he's a franchise QB and lights it up...I just don't think drafting him is the best idea.

    The question is simple:

Would you accept Geno Smith at the number 9 pick if we grabbed Tavon Austin at 13th also?

Pretty straight forward if you ask me

    Not even.

Imagine Geno Smith throwing to Tavon Austin, Jeremy Kerley, Santonio Holmes, and Stephen Hill.

    Rebuilding my ass LOL

It would definitely give Jets fans some sense of hope... Because right now, we dont have any.

I was all for taking a pass rusher, but lately I have been looking at our roster. Our offense is lacking so much, I would love having a playmaker on offense. With Geno at QB and Austin as his weapon, I think we can start the rise.

Rex Ryan will put out a good or great defense every year. Our offense needs to score and with these two guys, we can.

Ive been pro offense since december... We have no playmakers. No one that strikes fear in a defense. Unless you have one, you are going to have a hard time winning.

People also forget that this draft is pretty deep throughout at passrusher. Jamie Collins, Sio Moore, Corey Lemonier, Alex Okafor, Brandon Jenkins, Cornelius Washington, Quanterus Smith and Trevardo Williams could all come in the 2nd or 3rd or even 4th and help provide a passrush and develop into a quality starter.

Then no. Not sold on him. Hell, a month ago he wasn't considered a first round prospect and now he's a top ten pick and franchise calibre QB? I'm not so sure.

What exactly makes him not a first round talent?

In college he threw for 11,662 yards, 98 TDs, 21 INTs, and a 153 rating. He also had a completion percentage of 67.4.

What exactly doesn't make him a first round or possible franchise QB? He impressed the shit out of a lot of people on his pro day, including our offensive coordinator.

this is barring we trade Revis to TB, which I don't think is going to happen.

if the trade did happen, I would like this a lot. or Geno with Steadman Bailey in the later rounds. Smith has played with him for most of his life.

It might very well happen. With Grimes off the board, TB should be all over Revis.

Sorry, meant not first round talent. Lots of experts were saying it. He may be picked in the first round because he plays QB but that doesn't mean he's worth it.

I find it cute that you think that would amount to a good passing offense. That's not even better group of offensive skill players than we had three years ago ... and that offense sucked (with the best offensive line in football).

I am not sold on Geno as a first round QB, and as exciting as Tavon Austin is .... i think the Jets would be better off with a more polished reciever, even if he is lacking the top end blazing speed Austin has (I think Robert Woods will be better, and last longer in the NFL than Austin).

Just my opinion of course ... but if we had the 9 & 13 ... i think either Jordan/Jones at #9 and Cooper at #13. Each sides gets a need piece .... 2nd round go Woods .... that would give 3 immediate plug and play players. And while I am playing fantasy football, i would like the Honey Badger with my 3rd round pick ... yes he needs a baby sitter, but jesus that boy was born to play. He would start at nickle from day one.
