Im sure he would have been better. I dont really doubt that. But at the same time it doesnt change the fact that he has a hard time hitting receivers in stride, or tripple pump fakes to a receiver to then throw the ball there, or that he still has trouble reading a defense after year 4... Who knows, if he had them from the start of his career, he may have never hit this regression. If he had them from last year? Im not sure how much it would have helped. It may have helped him be average, but he's not turning into a probowler or franchise savior. Interesting thought, but something we will never know the answer to. On a similar thought- notice how the Falcons did everything to surround Matt Ryan with talent (Julio trade, just persuaded Tony out of retirement, ect)... Most franchises do whatever in their power to surround someone they think is a potential franchise QB with talent and weapons. Even though the team is in cap "hell", if they thought Sanchez was the future, dont you think they would be trying to do everything in their power to help him? -trying to be objective and am not saying what I think they should do, but more so what it appears the organization is doing/thinking/
Absolutely...you have a point there. Although, one would contend that the Jets simply didn't have the offensive coaching/scouting/GM to either a) recognize this problem and/or b) the will or ability to surround the young man with more talent. I go with A...it's the GM's job and that is where Tanny got an epic "fail".
Enough with the regression crap. Last year was coaching and injuries, and to your other point at many points during the season his QBing was pretty good, balls on the numbers, guys in stride, very good pump fakes... That triple action crap, unless you have a film clip, im not seeing. Thats always been my argument agaisnt the mental argument against him...guys with no confidence pull the ball down, he generally tries to stick it where it shouldnt go. Over confidence, not a lack. Bad decision making.
They built the team Backwards. You get all your skill position players first, and to their credit, they have generally drafted a fair amount of offensive players, its just that with shit OCs, apparently the scouting department just didnt do well, and the defensive picks tended to work out better, And where did our FA money go ? Pace,Scott, on the other sode weve always been bargain shopping. Then, in the year where we finally have a protoype X, a promising Slot guy, The Y we drated, and a protoype Z. X,y,z all get injured. The one silver lining to that cloud, is Cumberland and Kerley got reps, and developed chemistry that will play well this year. Ive a very strong suspicion, that as a TE Cumberland will be more. Valuable than Keller, but more importantly, that Kerley will be Marks go to guy..,.and having a slot guy as your go to guy worked out pretty well for our divisional rival.
Yes...Kerley was a huge bright spot! From a football perspective, more talented than Welker. We'll see how that translates...

how can you be so high on idzik so soon? he has done basically nothing to this point. i mean shit you can want him to be great but lets get through a draft before we annoint him the next coming. im not going to hang my hat on idzik being great because he brought in colon at og.
I never said he is our savior. I said "things are looking up" and yes I am high on Idzik, even if he has done all the "obvious" things. The fact is simple. He helped build a consistent playoff team in Seattle and he is a pure football guy. So far he has made the obvious moves, but he has also made a few signings that I feel are great pickups. I will wait for the draft, but in my personal opinion I think he is great. Just how I feel
Doing 'basically nothing' is infinitely better than the 'doing something' Tanny had become famous for.....guaranteeing and extending Sanchez, giving Revis the farm with no safety net, guaranteeing millions to aged, slow footed line backers......sometimes 'nothing' is far better than 'something'. Kind of like STDs.
i like idzik so far. im not gonna say hes a good gm or anything like that, but ive been happy with the way things have turned around in jet land. its really refreshing to see what he has done to the media output and all that, ive been happy with his signings and not upset about who he has let go (i got on slauson a couple times on this board last season), and i have a good feeling about him based on the franchise he just came from and helped get going. this is the first offseason in a while though that i can say im happy with the moves being made. i think mornhinweg is a great hire and i have a feeling that the team will be much better than most people think. i believe 6-10 will have been rex's low point. and if that holds true, thats pretty damn good for this franchise.
This may just be me but Kerley was a QB in high school and led his school to their first state championship. He got converted to WR at TCU and probably has never quite let go of the feeling of being a great QB leading his team mates to victory. How do you think that guy feels when he looks at a guy like Sanchez who had had opportunity after opportunity handed to him in the two years you have been on the roster and has consistently failed to take advantage of them? I just got the feeling last year that there was something going on there that wasn't quite right. Watching a guy make millions and screwing up while you are making peanuts and doing your job well. Knowing how things should be going because you held that job yourself once upon a time and did it very well. Seeing things go downhill for the team. Playing QB is about leadership and skill. It's hard for me to imagine that there are many, if any, players on the Jets who see Sanchez as a strong leader now. Kerley would be among the last guys I would think that of. He wasn't on the Jets for the playoff runs in '09 and '10. The screw ups are all he knows about.

And btw...can you name please, the recievers who caught passes in that game? His pumping the ball, was entirely justifiable. You picked the absolute worst game on the schedule to make that argument. The best wide out on the Jets was signed THAT WEEK. Yeah all on Mark. Tell me you were kidding. Go take a quick look at the receiving stats.
maybe i overreacted a bit but i read it like he was the savior, and i cant say i am unhappy with anything he has done or what i think his vision is... i just dont want to jump the gun on annointing him.
