If you don't want columns (and who does in a spectator arena?) then you have to reinforce the shit out of the overhang with massive amounts of steel I-beams and that costs money.

Giants Stadium had such reinforcing supports. But also it was built "steeper," (so the supports didn't have to be so long) but which is also probably considered a safety concern nowadays because steeper pitch means more chance of someone falling forward.

All of which should have been looked at from a practical standpoint in trying to save Giants Stadium and use it for the exclusive use of either team, because it was grandfathered in and had zero structural problems. Built in 1976 or so, the place was built very, very well and really had no deterioration issues whatsoever. 34 years old is nothing for concrete and steel... look at the bridges and high-rises in NYC.

    But alas....

I knew the contractor who poured the concrete for the Stadium Club extension (the add-on) at Giants Stadium. His name was Carmello Latorre and he did excellent work. All of that stuff was reinforced to hell and back.

But on no. Tear the fucking thing down. It's no good. Well now, you couldn't replace that stadium if you wanted to even at any price. Those days are gone, and so is the best football stadium ever built in the northeast. People who want expensive "amenities" should go to a fucking dinner club somewhere in Manhatten.

Look coulda, woulda, shoulda concerning Giant Stadium destruction really/truly has no value any more because all it is a pile of junk that cannot be reconstructed so lets just move on to other things which has far more importance like why are we a losing team since 01/13/69? That issue is far more important then why they decided to destroy the former Giant Stadium

champ, in case you didnt realize this thread is about the stadium and really isnt the place to discuss the fact that you believe we are a losing team since 1969, there is an entire forum to discuss jets related things like your opinion on the jets since 1969.

this however is not the place. so please take it somewhere else so we can continue to keep this topic... on topic.

H'mm lets see 1st of the destruction of the old Giants history is history as I posted before so why continue to bring it it. Now it is what it is & the quite simple thing for anybody to do if they despise the new stadium so much is NOT pay your money to Woody & instead choose to watch the games in your man cave & Then we will not have all this BS. If you decide to keep paying Woody then STFU & go to the games & hopefully you can enjoy them since I presume that person presumes his/her money is well spent. On the other subject winning a CHAMPIONSHIP IMHO IS WAY, WAY, WAY MORE IMPORTANT then the destruction of the old Giant stadium

i have added champ to my ignore list. he really posts nothing of interest or with any substance anymore. so there is really no reason to read them. i have passed over or skimmed the first line of most of them for the past 6 months or so, i know im not going to be missing anything.

i read the first line of his last post and realized it was now time to send him off to im only going to see your posts if someone else quotes them land.

Funny & I actually think yours & others have zero substance in them. Harping & complaining abouth a old stadium that has long since being demolished. Constant complaing about Met Life that will get you nowhere. Demanding lower tix prices that will also get you nothing. I guess you just to silly to see how inane it all is.

    cheers!!!!

its wonderful, i know that he is telling me some kind of jibberish right below your post, but i will never know what it is and he will never bait me into posting toward him again.

its worked pretty well with junc although he gets quoted alot but i kinda like seeing what he has to say from time to time. it keeps me from getting involved in arguments with him though because i dont see it real time and i cant see his retorts.

champ it will work even better because nobody quotes him. its really a great feature and i wish i had started using it sooner.

cue one of you guys to quote him, bastards!!!

This is a discussion thread about the New Stadium.

It's not a discussion thread about the Jets' record and performance.

Although the two can sometimes (but rarely) overlap, we ought to be free to discuss the New Stadium, including (but not limited to) asthetics, vendors, comfort, ease of commute, seating placement, ticket prices, parking, egress and exit, tailgating, PSLs, etc.

And we ought to be free of constant and never-ending harrassment of what the Jets previous records are or what certain individuals think our future record will be.

I'm sure there is a forum in which certain people can express their extreme displeasure and frustration with not having a VLT for 44 years. And a place where they can even "predict" that this will not happen for the next 7-19 years, whatever.

But is this forum or thread the place for that? I'm not certain it is.

I am currently in Champ rehab and my instructor tells me to learn from posters who ignore him. I am learning day by day.

Yep IMHO that is why you are in denial of the TRUE FACTs which are the NYJs have won NOTHING since 01/12/69 right? Unless you have a genie like Barbra Eden who can wiggle her nose & whammo the old stadium rematerializes the new stadium becomes it is what it is which means pay your monies & go to the games & enjoy watching them lose in person or stay home in you man cave & not pay your monies to WJ & enjoy watching them lose but are saving money. Either way those are you only 2 options so to keep rehashing the same garbage on here IMHO Is just plain silly

I miss the old place, especially the escalator that took us directly to the Upper Deck. I also miss the people in my section.

Too much sideline at all these new stadiums. Seats start too far back.

I just did the same... his painful misspelling/grammer made it truly unbearable to take anylonger.

I admire some of you. You are Jets fans and your parents are Jets fans and your kids are Jets fans. My case is different.

I am Turkish. My company moved me to USA in 2004. I didn't know anything about NFL until then. In 2005 I made a conscious choice and picked Jets over Giants since they were the underdogs. My twin boys were born in 2006. Now they are six and half and one of them is a Jet fan and the other a Giant fan. I didn't enforce anything on them thinking they are too young but they ended up loving different teams due to their friends at school.

Now I don't want to force them to change their teams but at the same time I am probably going to say good bye to my dream.

I was hoping they would be Jets fans and I would buy season tickets for Jets and we would end up enjoying the games together and start a tradition and they would have fond memories.

    Now I am screwed.

    What do you guys suggest?

Shall I buy 2 Jets and 2 Giants season tickets and take them to the games respective weeks? Or shall I just buy Jets tickets and pressure my other son to give up on Giants.

I am asking this question here because I want to get the opinions of Season Ticket Holders.

Have any of you had a similar dilemma in the past. What would you do if this happened to you?

You are not screwed. My son became a Dallas Cowboys fan at age 6 because they were kicking ass and all his friends at school thought they were cool. I didn't bash his Cowboys, I just started watching Jets games and rooting for them. Pretty soon he caught on that I was a Jets fan (maybe my hat was a giveaway?) LOL

That was 35 years ago. I bought Jets season tickets in 1985 (he was now 13) and today (at 41) he's a Jets fan through and through.

My advice: buy the Jets tickets (much easier and cheaper to get now) and just start taking them to the games. The Giants fan will get caught up in the J-E-T-S stuff and will soon find himself rooting for them. Don't force anything, but just take them both to the games and you'll soon see you have a Jets family tradition going on.
