This would be interesting. This guy is GIGANTIC and seems to have great skills. This is also the first I heard about Coples becoming a LB. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2013/03/jets_work_out_smus_margus_hunt.html
Rex tried out Coples at OLB last year. I doubt he ends up making the switch now. Especially after having success at DE and DeVito walking. Margus Hunt seems to be too big to play OLB too but you never know. I'm still hoping for that guy on your avatar.
Not too well versed about Magus Hunt. However, that surgery Rex had seems extremely impressive. You can't even recognize him from some of his older fatter pictures.
I wouldnt touch him until the 3rd. Unless we switch to a 4-3, I dont really see how he's a fit. He's extremely raw, lacks natural bend and isnt an ideal fit as a 3-4 OLB. Plus, he would be 26 heading into the season. For someone that would need a year or two to actually start to adjust to the game and contribute, Im not sure its worth it.
love how rex actually puts his hand down and gets a feel for the players. one of the reasons guys respect him so much as well.
I agree, hopefully woody stands by his comments and allows Idzik to make final decisions on personnel, especially during the draft.
This has Ducasse and Hill written all over it... when will we stop wasting our time with physical specimen that don't know how to play football? PS Holy shit Rex looks fit o.0
Ducasse and Hill are both offensive players, I wouldn't doubt the Jets when it comes to picking a guy that Rex likes. It's worked out for our defensive picks so far. Besides K. Wilson at this point.
Its part of the problem, The fat Rex had two good years,The skinny Rex has shit the bed two years in a row, someone needs to throw him off his diet and leave snacks on his desk constantly
Hill, can play. Fcol, he was a rookie cut him a little slack. He looked great week one. Got hurt, and had to think too much as he learned more. Once hes learned, and stops thinking...his talent will evolve.
Hes a fit, because we have 2 reliable DL players, and no depth even if Kenrick Ellis steps up. This guy physically resembles Richard Seymour and one of his weaknesses is elusive players can get by him....be ause of his size/speed(lack) which....as you are probably aware is solved by your linebackers. Not sure what his projected round is, however...thats crap anyway if the pick works out. Curtis Martin, and Joe Montana were 3rd rounders...looking back, would the picks suck if they were first overall? Vernon gholston and Mike Mamula were consensus first rounders.... Hmmmm.... All that matters..is if the pick produces the way you think he will. Every team will pass on better players that can help them more, and other teams will find bargains... (brady?)
Look at the talent we had on the field in 2009 and 2010. How can you even compare those 2 years to 2011 and 2012. How can you blame that on Rex? All 4 seasons we had a top 10 defense, a couple times in the top 5, yet he shit the bed? Not only did we have a top defense in each of his years here, but we even had a top defense in 2011 and 2012 when the talent was nowhere to be found. Slow ass LB corp, no safety in 2011, Revis hurt in 2012. Shit the bed? Definitely not. When there is no talent at any skill positions, it's kind of hard for a coach to win. Oh and he still took us 8-8 in 2011 and 6-10 in 2012. Even with absolutely nothing on those rosters.
I do cut him some slack... I just think he's a project, just like Ducasse was and it's not a given that he will evolve (and don't get me wrong I'm rooting for the guy, he's a Jet and it seems like he's a good person as well). How many projects have totally failed in the NFL? More than those who have succeded.
of course hill is a project. every player drafted outside of the first 10 are projects.if hill had better hands with his h.w.s. he would have been a top pick. "project" is just a buzz word that doesnt mean shit.all players are projects. how much of a project determines their draft slot.
