Sanchez is not my argument, he is your state of mind. "12 year old" insult attempt? From YOU of all people? You must be really desperate.
Lets start with the obvious one that isnt a Hall of Famer. Klecko was a pro Bowler at every position on the defensive line. Anyone else ever do that. I would say, the three that...you know....are in Canton, constitutes general recognition as an all time great. You could argue otherwise...the NFL, begs to differ,,, And..as far as impact on games....Gastineau > revis. If the two were college seniors, youd draft Gastineau over Revis ever day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Revis is better than Deion as a corner. Deion was better w/ the ball in his hands but as a cover corner Revis is far better than Deion was especially when you factor in the rules of the game today and what he has done against top competition. Namath was not the best at his position, he threw for 4,000 yds- yeah! but he threw 28 INts that season including 9 in a critical 3 game losing streak late in the year that cost the Jets a chance at winning the division. A man that led his team to 2 postseason wins in his career and 2 postseason apps. Klecko was great, should be a HOFer but the pro bowl at 3 different positions is a little overblown, he only made 4 PBs in his career and was all pro only twice. Gastineau was a great pass rusher but neglected the other areas of his position to get more sacks and he was a divisive force in the locker room that helped to hold back some ultra talented teams. There's a reason he's not in the Hall and the NFL allowed him to lose his sack record on a bogus sack. I love Curtis, he's not a top 10 RB in NFL history, he wasn't the best during his era either. Those 4 players played a total of 46 seasons and made 7 1st team all pro teams. Darrelle Revis has played 6 seasons and has 3 1st team all pros already and is considered by far the best corner in the game and by many the best defensive player in the game. In those 46 seasons those players helped the Jets win 8 playoff games, revis has helped the Jets win 6 playoff games. 1 every 6 seasons w/ the others, 1 a season w/ revis- which is better? so obviously he has had a big impact as he's been our best player during those runs. He is the best player we have ever had and if he finishes his career here(at least the majority of it) he will go down as #1.
lmao! First of all it is incorrect that Revis only defends passes. He is one of the best tackling CB's in the league. But you seem to have not noticed that the NFL today is more a passing game, and more each year. I for one am a big fan of Scott Norwood, btw. Him being a Bills player and all. Heh.
Let's be consistent here guys. The same people that are like "Fuck Mevi$ trade him" were the same people praising him 2 years ago calling him Revis Christ.

Well, not exactly, but you are somewhat right. The people here who are dumping on him do so for the most part either because they are owner/FO homers or expect Revis will be gone and are trying to convince themselves that is a good thing, or some combination of both. I have always been a fan of his. I love watching him play and contribute to the team's effort. Plus I am fairly sure if he leaves we will come to regret it, especially if no real effort is made to keep him.
well, that is settled. I guess Akili Smith is better than Tom Brady, I mean, why was Smith a first round pick and Brady a 6th?
if both were coming out in the draft Smith would go higher. Unfortunately Gms don't get a crystal ball to know what players will eventually become. Hobbes said if both were seniors in college Gastineau would go higher, I simply asked why did Revis go a round higher if that was the case? If he said based on their pro careers that's a different argument though Revis is still MUCH better at his position than Gastineau at his.
Tannenbaum. How come joe Montana was a third round oick, and every team in the NFL passed on Tom Brady 5 times.... That question, os worthy of Big Blocker, its beneath you
Yes. So....how many teams are throwing draft picks at us, and Cash at the best corner...,to ever play the game? I wont hold my breath. Much to the consternation of the short bus students
Revis was going to be a high pick whether we moved up for him or not. YOU said if they were coming out of college, coming out of college Montana wouldn't be a 1st rd pick in any era, same for Brady. Based off NFL careers Montana would probably be 1 overall and Brady 2 overall but that wasn't the question. Darrelle Revis is basically a HOF lock if he has another couple of decent seasons, Gastineau is never getting close.
This is just a guess but I'm thinking the Jets made Revis a solid offer last year and he said no. I'm thinking he really wants the pie-in-the-sky and nothing is going to keep him from going for that type of deal. When the word on the street is that Woody Johnson doesn't think he can sign Revis the odds are pretty good that that's because he made an attempt and got a no in return. It's possible that Woody never made Revis an offer at all but I'm guessing that in the not too distant past an offer was made and rebuffed and so we're where we are right now. Think about it. Would Woody put the word out that Revis wasn't signable by the Jets without ever having the conversation with his agents?
Just a guess! The word on the street is not that Woody can't sign Revis. It is that he doeesn't want to. Next!
