It's obvious that tannebum and woody were not looking at the teams best interest when they did not protect themselves in anyway so that when he is free . We get nothing in return. Not a tender . Not a franchise tag. Nothing. So when he walks, Cause that is what it is looking like. Unless we can find a trade partner and a contract for the guy that he would accept. We are losing out big time. I doubt this is gonna happen cause there is a few teams that would give a first for him. That's the reason why he is not traded yet. No teams wanna give so much when they are gonna have to pay him just like a top free agent money and give away multiple picks. It's a high risk move that can really hurt a team. Add in the fact he missed almost a whole season due to a injury that could hinder his speed and ability to lock down any WR.

What a bad year to get hurt too. If he was healthy? I know he would have been traded for at least a 1 and 2 and maybe a pick next season. So every poster here has to thank woody johnson cause tanny is gone and he let this happen on his watch with his team!

I really think when i was 13 . I could have ran this team better. It is disgusting to watch a non self made billionaire screw up this franchise. Oh I forgot woody is a philantropist or whatever its called when you are rich and make up a job you know is easy.

Revis is without one the best players the Jets have ever had. That said this franchise probably needs to go forward without him. While things can change on a dime in the NFL we still need to finish our contract purge and rebuild both our starting lineup and roster depth. Even if we manage to ace this years draft we will still need another solid to really good draft next year and then go into free agency and plug whatever holes are left with solid reasonable contracts.

Now maybe we stink enough this year and get a QB in the 2014 draft or we take somebody this year that turns out alright. Either way 2013 and 2014 are probably reconfiguration years because of the many moving parts. Now if everything goes well 2015 will be our first year of locked in contention. Revis will be 30 before the start of that season and probably starting his decline as the Revis we know; that's if he returns from his injury.

If we keep Revis he'll probably help us win a game or two more than we would have otherwise and help keep us out of the running for Manziel and the year after same sort of thing. So we end up being just good enough to draft outside of top tier of 14 draft and maybe a few picks farther out than we would have in 15. In turn lowering our potential talent level in years we aren't going to win the SB anyway. I mean we can hope, but I don't think Vegas would give you good odds.

It goes without saying that I want Revis here, but only with a contract that is going to mesh with what the Jets need to do for them to turn the corner and put them on the right runway. Unfortunately, the type of contract it would take is not one that a player of his continued calibre wants or deserves. If Tampa wants to take a shot at winning now and wants to give us most of his true trade value we should be willing to take a good hard look at doing this.

Sorry about my rambling. It's been a while since I last posted:)

    YET!

    in time...
He could quite possibly be the best player the JETS ever had but becoming a top JETS player would take time...

and people want to get rid of him?
..I find it funny how we have a HOF caliber player on our roster and you guys want him gone...lol

Do you consider any of those guys the best to ever play their respective positions? Revis is basically there as far as cover corners go.

Wow - that's a moronic statement if I've ever heard one - didn't this argue happen about 300 posts ago on this same thread? At least this time you listed Martin...

Did you just got off a hot date with Sanchez, or just plain drunk?
I seriously wish that you never, under any circumstances had the same opinion as I do. Your idiotic "arguments" can discredit any point.

Not really surprising I guess, considering...

The first 3 are hall of famers. And the fourth was an all pro at ever position in the defensive line and shoukd be, and gastineau was far more of an impact player in his prime.

The simple fact is, if youre building a team, and its draft day....

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE GUYS comes off the board before Revis.

And its not even a close decision.

Look if youre a 12 year old, i guess that constitutes clever...but 3 hall of famers, and two of the best to ever play their position, with far greater impact than Revis will ever have on any game...and your argument is sanchez........

I didnt mention sanchez take Revis cock out of your mouth and read the post youre responding too.

That's silly, he's the best player in jets history- not most important but best player BY FAR at his position. he may very well be the best corner of all time. he's the best I have ever seen and that includes Deion. Aaron Glenn was a decent corner, Revis is an all time great.

Not one of those guys were the best at their position in their era or in the discussion for best of all time at their position. revis is far and away the best of his era and in the discussion for best of all time(provided he keeps playing at a high level).

    Is it?

First, Revis only plays on defense, and even then only defends the pass, so in reality Revis is 'in on' about 25% of total plays in a game.

Morten Anderson, a lowly kicker, scored 2,544 points. The most by any player in the history of the NFL.

Ask the Bills if they would rather have Revis for the next ten years or Adam Vinatieri in their 1991 20-19 SB loss to the Giants.

Yet, is fair, though i would point out, that he may be the best player at his position the Jets ever had...

    But..lhes just a CB.

Every player I listed, had the ability to change a game, on any given play, no CB since Deion..l.has been that.

Junc, Revis, isnt even better than Deion, and were talking about best Jets, and all 5 were far more consequential.

And, namath, was the first guy to throw for 4000 yards, best at his position.

Klecko, pro bowler at every position on the DLine, best at multiple positions.

Gastineau, led the league in sacks...best at his position.

Martin, one of two to string 10 consecutive 1000 yard seasons.

Revis has done nothing, on that level.

Is he grotesquely talented sure....consequential? Not like that.
