I think you misconstrued what I meant. Think about this. America has the best basketball league, the NBA. The best baseball league, the MLB, the only so by default best american football league the NFL. Then soccer comes and where would you rank the MLS? The MLS is a bad soccer league. It's not very good. American sports is built on high quality and defined by winning and losing. Gonzaga went 30-2 over the regular season, then they lost in this NCAA torunament in the 2nd round. The season was considered a disappointment, because this means everything. The playoffs mean everything. From my understanding the EPL and other European leagues don't have playoffs. The team with the most points wins at the end of the season right? HEre the regular season is just a means to get into the playoffs. The goal is to make the playoffs and win. In the NBA and MLB more of the time the best team usually wins. The team with the best player/pitcher usually win because it's 7 games and luck isn't as big as a factor. For soccer this usually evens out over the course of the season. Add in NCAA tournament and the NFL is all one game playoffs. The better team doesn't necessarily win. There are most upsets and close games mean even more. For example, if the Knicks play the Spurs in the finals (yeah I said Knicks deathstar, let my hypothetical have the Knicks in the finals) if the Knicks win game 1 at the buzzer, it doesn't mean a lot because there are at least 3 more games and at most 6 more games left. If the Jets beat the Giants in the Super Bowl, it's over no more games, Jets win. If Harvard beats New Mexico, it's over, Harvard wins. No second chances, no series, no evening out. Whoever wins, wins, and it lends it self to excitement, gambling, betting, predicting, etc. I'm not saying America is right, I'm saying America is different. It's just different. Like I said, I think NHL is the perfect American sport, but I have trouble getting into it until the playoffs and so do many other Americans. I like watching the UEFA, the World Cup, etc. I don't like watching the MLS, what is primarily on, or two EPL teams that I don't about playing a tape delayed game. If America was the "best" or had the "best" league and everything was set up based on American ideas/timezones/locations/ etc, Americans would watch. Very self centric view from America, but that's how it would work I believe Sorry for my edits, but also a lot of people go to college. My team was one win away from making this tournament. I would have been ecstatic if we made the tournament (we haven't in 15-20 years). If we won a game, even better, would have gone crazy. The system is set up where this is all that matters for college basketball, hence the improtance of it.
Sir You are still looking at FUN perspective. Like I said, soccer is more than life and death Your team is your identity. You don't watch games for fun. It is like you are watching your father beating up the father of the bully in your school. Pride is the key word. I am 35 I have been to many games in Europe(mostly in Turkey my home country). In soccer, you don't sit in a stadium mixed. Each teams' spectators have designated sitting areas. And police escorts the visiting teams' fans most of the times. And the quota is 5% for opposing teams Do you know what courage and pride it takes to wear your team colors and go to an opposing team field especially if they are your blood rivals? 3000 people against in 60,000 I did beat a lot of opposing fans. But I got beaten up more by opposing fans on away games. Do you know the fun we took cheering for our team on an away game against 60,000 opposing fans? Do you know the pride it took to shed blood after a big fight? Sir I hope you understand what I mean. College basketball is like watching my kid brother playing in a basketball court. Nothing more. Have fun Please visit our Soccer topic and let's continue our discussion there. I don't want to ruin my fellow posters fun here in this topic.
i think the difference is, we are fans of so many sports.where soccer is it in europe, always, college basketball is it right now. than baseball will start, than the nba playoffs, than back to baseball, than nfl, than mlb playoffs, and more football, basketball starts backup and there is football, and hockey will start backup plus football, college bowl season nfl playoffs back to the nba and than its march madness again. we have your same passion only it is spread out to 4 -5 different sports throughout the entire year. if all sports but football were gone,i think you would see the same passion at football games as you do in soccer games across the pond
Nothing falling for FGC or SDSU right now. As I typed this, Brown drills a deep 3. This FGC team either only takes 3 or dunks/layups. Statistically this a great strategy to do as midrange to long 2s are the most inefficient shots. I mean man, they are fun to watch
Good for FGC, just closed the door on that game. Ole Miss and La Salle in a tight one. Winner faces Wichita State?
Yeah whatever that means. Crazy tournament so far, but I really want one of these sleepers to make it to the final 4. Their best shot is against OSU haha
