I am curious to see whether the majority of fans think Revis will play again for the Jets - this isn't a question of whether or not you want him to be traded, or think its a bad idea, just whether or not you think he will be traded before the start of the season.
This will be interesting to see - but I think some people may vote incorrectly if they don't read the poll question carefully! I think he has to be traded and will be.
The question should be before or after June 1st. I was just reading that our cap is somewhere around $12 million under. If we trade him before June 1st, we take a $12 million hit
I just did exactly that. I voted based off the thread title (so I voted no) when I do think he will be traded
The thread should probably be closed and re-opened with a phrasing that matches the question options.
I chose No...For some strange reason I feel like they are blowing a ton of smoke around right now. They are going to wait for mini-camps/training camp to see how his knee is responding. If he looks 100% I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they re-sign the guy for the remainder of his playing days to retire as a Jet. What the heck...I figured I'd make the "out there" projection...a squirrel has to get a nut once in while. LOL :breakdance:
im going to agree with this and say no.. he wont be traded. i feel he will play for us until he retires not because that what i want(of course i do!) but.. lets face it ... the Bucs are rumored to want to go ahead and give up their 1st round this year.. but we know its just RUMORS. the Bucs are getting tired of waiting, they are losing hope for other decent CB's BECAUSE they are waiting and its going to get to the point where he just stays on the team and if he checks out mid-way through the season as the same player...... i expect we sign him then.... we dont worry about any of the other big time players except for Cromartie who isnt that hard to reason with contracts wise. sounds like a perfect ending i know.. and isnt the Jets way as terms of simple but thats just how i see it panning out,if it happens please proceed to call me the next nostradomus.
There's only one player in the history of the NFL that's been given a HUGE contract by a new team while rehabbing a serious injury. Peyton Manning, SB MVP, Truly Franchise QB in every sense of the phrase. I just can't believe ANY team would guarantee an untested defensive back coming off major knee surgery near franchise QB money, plus give his old team tons of high draft pics. Especially when there are high quality FA DB's who would play for half that amount and cost no draft pics still on the market looking for work.
With the huge money on the table for Revis from Tampa, should he have another all-pro season with the Jets this season, he will be counting the days until he can get the hell out of here and get paid. And we get shit. No thanks. If his previous holdouts hadn't already turned me off towards Revis and esp. his agents, the comments last month about how much he would love to be in San Francisco instead felt like a final slap in the face. Fact is, we had a great defensive backfield without him last season. I see that as making him expendable and a luxury we can't afford but can still get a ransom for before its too late.
Idzik would be an idiot if he does not trade him. Neither option is good, but not trading him is far far far far worse.
Do you think Mark Sanchez will be the Starting QB of the Jets in 2013? Yes, he will be the back-up. No, he will start Week 1.
I didn't think it was confusing, the question is simply - will Revis be traded? I cant change the title of the thread but happy if a mod wants to.
I voted that he will be playing with us. Personally, I want him to retire a NY JET, but I am just a fan and all I can do is keep believing in my team.
