This is the value mock for the 8 picks in front of the Jets. I'm trying to match likely picks and value without having teams reach for need (except arguably the Bills who have a great need.) No trades because you could argue literally any pick up to the Jets as a trade given that there are no obvious franchise players in this draft.

#1 Chiefs - Luke Joeckel, LT

This is the only pick that has stayed constant through the combine and free agency. Joeckel is the most solid value in the draft and he's at a position of great impact.

#2 Jaguars - Eric Fisher, OT

Fisher's been moving up the ranks steadily and sits comfortably in the top 5 right now. Jaguars will probably play Fisher at RT and then move him over to LT in a year or two.

#3 Raiders - Star Lotulelei, DT

Lotulelei nudges out Sharrif Floyd because the Raiders are looking for a NT not a 3T. Raiders fans won't miss Tommy Kelly after they see Star at work.

#4 Eagles - Jarvis Jones, OLB

The Eagles are moving to a 3-4/4-3 flex this season and Jones is the best combination of overall value and ability to fit in that system. He played all over the place in the Georgia defense and he'll probably do the same for the Eagles.

#5 Lions - Dee Milliner, CB

The Lions scoop the best CB up and walk away smiling. It's really rare when the best player in the draft is also at the position you most need help at.

#6 Browns - Sharrif Floyd, DT

The best player available and a bit of a surprise. The Browns take him without much hesitation although I think they listen really hard to phone calls before they do it. They'd have preferred Jones or Milliner but they need help on the line also and Floyd is BPA.

#7 Cardinals - Lane Johnson, LT

No LT in Arizona and Johnson is sitting there waiting for them. Easy take.

#8 Bills - Geno Smith, QB

QB is QB. The Bills are going to gulp and take the best QB available. Doing something else on this pick just pushes the question out to the 2nd round where the choices will be worse and other people will have made some of them for you.

That's how I see this going down at the moment. No easy choices for the Jets on the 9, although they'll have some good options. A trade down is probably the best one.

The available pool if it goes down the way I listed is:

Jordan, Warmack, Patterson, Cooper, Ansah, Allen, Vaccaro, Ogletree, Austin, etc.

That's a pretty good argument for trading down 5 or 6 picks for some real value and taking the guy that floats down to you through that cloud of talent. Sheldon Richardson and Barkevious Mingo are out there also and will get looks from people in the range.

I like Jordan and Warmack but I don't like them better than Ansah and Cooper plus a 2nd round pick.

Agreed. I would put him in the discussion for sure, especially around the Ansah/Werner/Mingo range

Would be surprised to see Philly take Jones over Jordan.

I would just take Jordan or Warmack. If you can trade down and grab Cooper that's great. I don't think Mingo will amount to much in the NFL you are better off taking Jordan or Warmack right away.

2nd rounder is nice but not at the expense of a potential bust in the first

I disagree. He did both in college and succeeded either way. He's more versatile than people think.

He played DE and OLB in college. His weight and athleticism is a great fit.

Warmack or Patterson, our offense is the worst in the NFL. There I said it.

Hard to argue with most of those choices.

Jacksonville's pick can really go in any direction.

Don't forget that the Eagles signed Connor Barwin to a big deal and also just resigned Trent Cole last offseason to a huge deal. They also have Brandon Graham and Vinny Curry. The Eagles definitely love their pass rushers, but I don't think they'll get yet another 3-4 OLB. In that scenario I see them going with Dee Milner.

Shariff Floyd to Cleveland is an interesting choice. Definitely a fine value and I think if Floyd fell to there, a team might trade up at that slot to get him. Not sure if they'd take him though as their front seven looks pretty young and set

If Milliner drops to 9 should we take him?

I would really try to trade down in this situation, but assuming we already traded Revis (of are going to), I would take him (BPA)
