I'd love to add Austin. Not a single one of those receivers you named should prevent us from drafting a play maker. Our offense has sucked for a while and we haven't drafted a real offensive play maker in a long time.

they have made some good ones. they have also made plenty of bad ones. ducasse and gholston recently. mcknight is looking more and more like a blah pick as time goes on as well. and thanks to our crackpot gm, we have overpaid severely for harris. take hill off the list. guy drops more balls than i do loads.

You can't sit here and say WR is not a need for this team. It may not be the biggest immediate need but can sure use an upgrade.

Holmes is playing his last year as a Jet and coming off a serious injury.

Hill cannot be relied on, I'm still hopefull about his talent but based off his rookie season we can't just rely on him as a starting Wr.

Kerley is a nice slot WR, nothing more or less.

Edwards at this point is veteran depth and no guarantee to be back. Probably more likely not to be.

WR needs an upgrade just like every other unit on O.

That wouldn't happen in a million years.

You got 9 and 13 and you spend those picks on offense and defense. 9 (Jarvis Jones) 13 (Patterson). Holmes is gone next year and Patterson would be our prime-time play-maker in the offense.

No way do you spend two first rounders on the defensive side of the ball.

    WR1 - Patterson
    WR2 - Stephen Hill
    WR3 - Kerley
    WR4 - Braylon Edwards

Jets need to make sure Stephen Hill develops in the next 2 seasons.

And so has every other scouting department.

Bill Bellichick has made kick ass picks, but he has also failed miserably countless times. That's part of the job. You are going to lose more than you win.

I always attributed the draft to being the likes of a HOF baseball player. As a hitter, you only need to bat .300 to be a HOF player. That means you fail 7 times out of 10. By failing 7 times out of 10 you become one of the best players to play the game.

My only argument against a 1st round WR is the depth of the class. I'm fairly confident that a very good WR prospect will be available in 3rd rd.

Yes but there are no other offensive weapons you would take in the first round. All the RB's will be second round as will the TE's. The only TE I see going first is Eifert, but he is not worthy of a 13. Tavon Austin would be kick ass at 13. He would contribute significantly to our WCO with his speed

Take the 13th and trade down for more picks. Maybe you get a Justin Hunter at the end of round one with an extra 2nd rounder in 2014. Or a 3rd in 2013 who knows.

Keep the 9 and trade the 13th down if you must. I got a feeling a lot of the good WRs will be gone by the middle of the 2nd round. They are too talented.

Now we are talking. If we do end up getting 13 we should be desperately trying to turn that into more picks. There will be a run of offensive players in the 2nd rd and teams will be hitting jackpot with these picks.

The goal should be to get as many 2nd rd and future picks as possible v

Give me the #13 this year and a conditional 3rd rounder in 2014 that can escalate to a 2nd if he plays more than 65% of the defensive snaps and to a 1st if he makes AP 1st team all-pro & has more than 4 interceptions.

We have to go LB in the first round. If there is not one there, we should trade down for more 2nd picks and go fishing.

But we have to pick defense, we have way too many gaping holes at LB and Saftey. The offence can wait till next year, it going to be complete trash this year with Sancho and lame WR group we have anyway.

I completely disagree. Rex should be able to make it work on defense with scraps - it's time for him to earn his money. He has some good pieces to work with too. The offense has been ignored for too long. We need some damn play makers.

I wouldn't say it is time for him to earn his money. He has put a consistent top 10 defense on the field since he has been here. Not to mention, he put one out last year with an injured Revis and a old ass LB corp and no pass rush.

This is what I have a problem with.

If he can make chicken salad out of chicken shit, imagine what he can really do with actual chicken. It will make you cry out of joy. It's not like Jets front seven had a consistent pass rushing presence either.

This made me laugh. Given the depth at WR in this draft class, we could, conceivably, get starting quality LBs as well as some depth at WR. It's possible to have our chicken salad and eat it, too. This time, with real chicken.

I'm not saying to make it a long term plan but the majority of our high picks under Rex have been spent on defense. The offense severely needs talent and has sucked for a while. The defense has been good and will likely continue to be good if we don't draft defense early this year.

I'm generally a bpa guy, but strongly prefer that we start building the offense in an offensive minded league.

I understand where you are coming from - but, I think the BPA will dictate that Jets grab a pass rusher at #9. Jets didn't have a legitimate pass rusher after Abraham left the team - so that's quite a while, mind you.

If the BPA says Jets should grab OL or a game-changing TE at 1st, so be it. I still think OLB is the strength of this draft, and Jets can find a good one at #9. (And there should be a plenty good WRs in 2nd and 3rd too.)

Until we have a top QB the production we are going to get on O will not be worth the cost. Get a QB and build around him. If we have to wait until next year build the D and the OL in the draft.
