The reaction from Torts and Sullivan after the first two periods against New Jersey should be all the proof anyone needs that it's time to make a change. The team played so well and looked so fluid offensively playing a puck possession game and Lundqvist making big saves when they needed them. Torts and Sullivan weren't happy, made them go back to dumping and chasing, playing everything on the boards, collapsing on defense, and it's been the typical garbage for three straight periods. Either one of two things are happening here. 1. He's too stupid to recognize that he doesn't have the personnel to play this system, a system that's inefficient to begin with, in which case he's not qualified to be an NHL head coach. 2. He's too stubborn to recognize these things, in which case he should be fired for putting his own ego ahead of what's best for the team.
Ok so i was fortunate to not see this game tonight. Out drinking. A loss to fla at home? They dont deserve anymore of my time
Unless something drastic happens at the trade deadline, this team will be lucky to make the playoffs...very disappointing!
Del Zotto/Eminger were horrible last night...7 giveaways...but to be fair to them the only line that did anything was Steps line...45 shots from bad angles and distance, made that kid look like Patrick Roy...can't sustain any fuckin' offense, it's pitiful...
I coached hockey with a decently high level of players after college, and let me tell you something - if I heard the kind of comments coming from the players (and Torts to a point) I'd blow up on them. "No disrespect but we let the Panthers off the hook tonight with the way we came out." "Inferior team this, inferior team that." Shut your fuckin traps. Teams that play consistently sound hockey can afford themselves the right to say that after a bad loss to a bad team. You lose the right to say stuff like that when it's happening on a weekly basis. That's the end of my rant. I just hate false entitlement. On another note, Lundqvist is visibly getting pissed with the lack of scoring. He's been making more and more comments on it. Years past, he would unselfishly shoulder the blame for not pitching a shut out. Can't say anyone can blame him.
I feel the same as you, shut the fuck up and play, should beat these "inferior teams" no excuses...enough already
I am sick an tired of hearing how the Rangers showed good effort by virture of having 40+ shots. That goaltender might of well had a bullseye and not a Panther logo on his chest, as he barely had to move for the majority of those shots. It's not about SOG, it's about QUALITY shots. As this team constantly hesitates before shooting (excluding Nash), the opposing goaltender has plenty of time to be in position. This is fundamental hockey, folks.
Agreed. That's all I kept thinking last night when they were firing shots at bad angles or with no traffic in front. The Panthers definitely had a ton more "scoring chances" despite being out-shot so drastically.
confounded fuckin' rangers. i'm quite perturbed this a.m. i know this is a fucked up season, but after last year, this is really frustrating to watch. the inconsistency and lamo shots on goal are getting old
Word on the street is Nash could possibly be suspended for a game or two for his hit on Kopecky last night in the third period. Heaven help us losing him again, even for a short time.
Katie Strang @KatieStrangESPN 1m #NYR The Rangers have placed veteran center Jeff Halpern on waivers
He's useless. I bet the Rangers look to trade Gabby, so the season is not a wash. I read something about Buffalo intersted, possibly giving up Vanik. Also just read, Evander Kane for Gabby. most of this is BS I am sure.
I think I could have scored on the chance he had last night, a replaceable player but don't bring up fuckin' Newbury he sucks....
