I don't put all the blame on Sanchez at all. I think the organization did a bad job of evaluating his potential which lead to a comedy of errors in his development. I think the overall scheme on offense was a disaster area coming into the Sanchez window, which was also the Rex Ryan window - a window that would be defined by the defense and investments on that side.

I think doubling down on Sanchez by trying to become a high-flying aerial attack while simultaneously reducing the asset value on that side of the ball was a major error in judgement that kind of sealed the deal on whether or not Sanchez would succeed.

If you want to compare Sanchez to people like Terry Bradshaw and Eli Manning you also have to look at what those organizations did in terms of structure, investment and scheme around those players. They got better in terms of overall talent over a period of years as those players developed and they withstood ferocious criticism of the initial choice to take the player and then the continuing effort to develop them without clear results on hand.

In retrospect Mark Sanchez looks like an afterthought in the 2009 plan who got handed as good a hand as he would see in 2010 and then watched the Jets ship slowly sink beneath the waves as the organizational plan became "Sanchez bails us out".

If you are serious about this, and I suspect you are, you should seriously consider getting help.

To those that think Sanchez can turn around his career- How is he supposed to do so with an offense that could potentially have less talent?

Right now we have lost 4 offensive starters and Im not sure we really upgraded. Goodson is a major question mark and Colon has injury struggles. Not to mention they have to install a whole new system.

Keller is gone, Greene is gone (as below average as he was, he was still a big contributor that now has to be filled), Slauson and Moore most likely gone... Holmes and Hill are coming off of surgery.

Not a pretty situation. Im not sure how many of you expect him to improve even if the coaching does...

So lets do this mess again?

Hopefully the next QB doesnt see 11+ different WR's in his first 3 years. I forget the rotating number of WR's but its high for Sanchez.

I consider myself fortunate that I'm not one of the few Sanchize apologists and excuse makers that feels the need to defend their boy constantly on a daily basis.

It's going to be a long way down...

On the bright side, Sanchez will definitely be gone in 2017 when he's an unrestricted free agent

You make a good point, but to accurately judge dropped passes you need to use dropped pass percentage, amount of drops per QB attempts. I bet Sanchez had a lot less attempts than Brady, Brees, Mannings, etc. So if you hold most receivers to be equally skilled across the league, the more attempts you have the more drops. You have to take into drop % to accurately gauge the effect the drops had on the team.

I can't find that stat unfortunately for the whole season. This link below is up to date of 11/21/12 and shows Sanchez in last place for comp % if you add in drops as completions for every QB in the league. So that's a fair way to judge getting around the fact that qualifying a drop is tough to do. So yeah your theory definitely holds weight, I just wish I could find the stat I was looking for!

Read the reply above there is very little chance this offense is worse than last year. I will say less than 1%. How many times has a team had every receiver hurt. Just think about that for a second.

As a fan of the NY JETS, the best case scenario would be for Sanchez this season to be so pissed about his performance last year, that he spends some time to find himself, go into camp, kick everyone's ass, plays lights out into December in an attempt to gain respect, and make a "Flacco-like" leap for a playoff run.

Believe me, I would LOVE for that scenario to play out this season! But in order to protect my emotional sanity, I feel for ME personally, it's best to just write him off as done.
I mean, dude has to prove to me all over again if he still got it.

I'm no fool. This ain 2009, 2010 anymore, those good times are gone and in the NFL it's what have you done for me lately. Grant it we had a tough year of injuries and personell issues last year, got it.

But all in all, dude folded like a beach chair. Maybe it's my own imagination, but I can't see any of the Elites just folding like Sanchez did. Am I saying if any iff the Elites would win more then 6 games with key players and mass injuries? No. So what am I saying?

What seperates the top of the top, is that they have an "IT" factor that despite everything falling apart around them, they keep their poise! They still try to make plays even if surrounded by scrubs! They still try to motivate, they are basically the same person despite the peices around them and have an ability to elevate those around them, even if the people around them have a low level skill set, they try to pull or squeeze something out.

I always wanted Sanchez to take that next step to become elite, but perhaps the Jets are to blame as well. I just think it's best to just fo what Idzik is doing. Have the QB spit wide open, and let the best man win and go from there. If the competion is fair, and if Sanchez wins it, and I would HATE to see Sanchez win it, I will support him because I am a fan of the NY JETS!

That's how I'm rolling. I want McElroy. Yeah I said it. I want McElroy to be the starter.

Are we really judging dropped passes as a sign of accuracy? The length people will go with stats to prove a point is amazing.

Stats are only valuable in context and that is breaking down the film and breaking down each play. All this other shit is useless.

Marks play took a dramatic dip south after the Pats game. He through Eleven interception after that. He only through ten up to that point.

While it is a pipe dream, it is also very possible that Sanchez transforms his career. Under MM, he now has the offense he could prosper in. Whether he does it or not is all in his hands, but this is the guy who can make it happen. MM was such an awesome signing at OC. If Sanchez doesn't win the job in training camp, kick his ass to the curb. He is done

this is good information and you are right, certainly more attempts by other QBs will skew data.. this adjustment proves even more that he wasn't just an accurate QB plagued by drops, but rather the least accurate QB, drops or not!
