Who do we want in 2014 ?...
I like Teddy because he plays in a pro style offense and he is extremely accurate, he looks to extend the play instead of running, I really don't want a run first QB as Manziel is.
Between those two, Taj Boyd, Logan Thomas, Aaron Murray, and Derek Carr there are a lot of QB's who will go into the season with a shot of playing themselves into the first round.
Neither. I think both will not produce the same in the NFL. Bridgewater I am on the fence about, but Manziel has me very concerned about his production at the next level. Unless we have a top 3 pick, those two will probably be gone. I like Tyler Bray a lot. Seems to have great promise.
Tyler Bray would be a good pick in the 5th round +. All you hear about is how immature and how little of a leader he is. Watching his games, his footwork in the pocket is terrible. He throws the ball with his feet facing other directions, moves up with the ball everywhere. He crosses his feet all the time.. its just a bunch of things that he needs to work on. Its all coachable, but I wouldn't take him before the 5th.
Bridgewater knows how to dissect a defense, he's physically and mentally tough - and the guy's football IQ is off the charts. He's a better pro-prospect then Manziel at this point. The only thing about Bridgewater is his arm strength. Bridgewater is a proven leader already as a Sophomore. After hearing about the story about him and his mother having cancer - his character was more evident. He's totally the opposite of Mark Sanchez / Manziel - I love character guys that have been through adversity early in life - he's responded on the football field. I for one have never seen Bridgewater rattled on the football field. He could handle the NY Media. With the right support around him, he would be the right guy for this team. He's nothing like the QBs we've had in the past. He's not the perfect prospect as he needs to bulk up and gain more throwing power but he's certainly got the tools. Taj Boyd / Derek Carr would be the next men up in my opinion. I just need to see more of this Johnny Football actually throwing it instead of running all the time. He would get crushed by NFL LBs
The thing I don't like about Manziel is that he's a little short but what does that matter nowadays I'm pretty sure he's Drew Brees's height...
Manziel seems to have that Doug Flutie type of feel to him where he somehow seems to make something happen with an innate playmaker ability. Whether or not it transfers to the NFL will be interesting to watch.
Manziel is a force of nature, whether that translates into NFL QB or not remains unclear. He probably should stay in school until 2015 when he'll have his own party coming out. Bridgewater looks good and we'll know more about him next year after we see his junior season. Matt Barkley looked pretty good for 2013 after 2011 and we've seen how that turned out. Aaron Murray is the guy who has nowhere to go but up at this point. He's probably a 2nd round pick next year at the top of the round but he could pretty easily be #1 with a great senior season.
Sounds like it really sucks to be a SEC QB that accounts for 47 touchdowns these days..especially if you are a freshman.
I'm not as sold on Manziel quite yet as a franchise QB because of his size and because he played behind a very good OL. I like to see how he progresses this year before declaring him a pure stud. I don't really care about the Heisman as far as pro prospects go. Bridgewater looks like a stud. He has excellent touch on the ball, can move very well, and is extremely accurate. He's someone that I think is a possible franchise saving guy.
I like bridgewater a lot....he has a lot of nice intangibles and he is smart and accurate however his arm strength is suspect which is worrysome....can u say chad pennington...I'm not yet sold on manziel...he's small and relies too much on his legs which ur not gonna be able to get away with in the nfl I also believe their is a franchise qb in thia draft by the name of e.j manuel.....he has a really strong arm can make all the throws and has good accuracy to go along with speed ti extend plays.....and he has the body size to absorb hits in the nfl
Teddy Bridgewater without a doubt... Scary thing is that he is pretty damn athletic but hasnt even taken advantage of that.
Unless we have the first overall pick, we will never get this guy. First pick of the draft. That's almost a guarantee
Well yes, but thats not what the thread was about... I think a better question though for this thread is, would you rather take Bridgewater or the best defensive prospect in the last decade in Clowney if you had the choice? Id probably take Bridgewater, but its a tough one.
I dont think its as clear as you make it... Clowney is the best prospect in over a decade... A gamechanger in every sense of the word. Looks to be the future LT, and thats not really exaggerating. Yes QB is the most important position in all of sports, but some team is going to have a tough decision. They probably will need a QB, but Clowney looks to be able to step in and compete for the best pass rusher in the NFL in his rookie year.
