we most certainly should, this is a great year for that and it seems like we can't go wrong on any front. we may not get first dibs on what we want most but hell the next options only just below in quality.

this is gonna be a good draft.

This is what I don't like. The guy was dominant in college, and because he runs slow in a straight line that's gonna go down the drain? I'm not saying that that's what your saying, but many others will say to pass because of his straight line speed.

A guy like Jordan ran a fast 40, he's tall, and athletic, but what has he shown? He can supposibly cover very well, but he has no picks or many passes deflected to show for it. I understand thar he might not have had many sacks because of dropping back, but he's still a developmental pick. He's gotta gain a bunch of weight and he needs to learn how to rush the passer better.

Out of this draft I want the Jets to get that elite pass rusher we've all been craving. A guy that requieres some attention which then would leave Quinton and Muhammad and probably even Barnes to get to the QB. A good passrusher will shadow the loss of Landry and possibly even Revis a whole lot

I love that he ran his 40 at that time. It allows us to have a much higher percentage of getting him at 9.

The guy is a complete bad ass. He is exactly what Rex needs. We NEED this guy if he is there at 9. No questions asked

I seriously doubt that is the way scouts and coaches look at it.

Maybe even be able to trade back and still pick him up!

Scouts look at his game footage. That 40 time will not hinder our draft prospect on him. It will being picked in top 5, but not past 5.

QUOTE=legler82;2723419] on 02-13-2013 6:54 PM I've read he runs hot and cold. The sacks and force turnovers seem to come in bunch; then he'll disappear for a couple of games. Also read that he's one of those guys that shows up on game day but does not have the best practice habits during the week. None of this would stop me from drafting him though.[/QUOTE]

I'd take him at 9 for sure. He'd fill a hole for us, is very talented, and help out the pass rush.

But I think he's gone before us though, some team won't pass him up even with the lacking 40 time.

Mike Mayock is pull the old "this is gonna make him fall" Schtick. I think he's to the point where like Kiper he is trying to create interesting TV instead of just reporting facts. The other ex playes on path to the draft both kinda chuckled and brought up that Terrell Suggs fell because he ran a 4.9 on his pro day. Basically saying go back to the tape, because he dominated the SEC for two years in a row.

We would be lucky to see him there at nine.

I think we have a BIG chance to grab him at 9.

All the teams above us have other needs right now. The only teams that I can see looking for a pass rush is Jacksonville and Arizona. Jacksonville, if looking for a pass rusher will go after Dion Jordan. Arizona seems to love Ansah and he would help compliment Sam Acho. All the other teams I see going after QB, OL, or DL.

If the spinal stenosis situation is true like this thread suggests, then he would be a great pick at 9. Without the medical concerns, he could be the best player in the draft.

Take a look at the Florida game of jones. He may not have track speed, but he is constantly a force in the backfield and even seals the game by running down and stripping Jordan Reed. The kid is a football player.

with his 40 times we could possible trade back and still get him and get additional picks.

No way he makes it out of the top 10. Scouts are not that dumb. On tape he's the best player in the draft. Just because he runs slow in a 40 doesnt mean anything. On tape he's clearly faster than that. Give me a healthy Jarvis Jones who runs a 4.9 over Keke Mingo who runs a 4.5 ANY day.

    drop him right to #9

at this point we're going to end up with either

    Jarvis Jones
    Barkevious Mingo
    Geno Smith
    Dion Jordan
    Eric Fisher

with Dee Milliner, Luke Joeckel, Shariff Floyd and Star Lotulelei also being in the top 9 but likely being the top 4 picks(Joeckel to KC, Floyd to JAX, Star to OAK and Dee to Philly)

    after that I'm guessing

    Fisher to Detroit
    Jones or Jordan to Cleveland
    Geno to AZ
    Buffalo picks a WR
we choose between Mingo and Jordan/Jones

I love the fact that he ran that time today... if he ran something really good there would be no shot in hell of him falling to us at 9....i am not sure he is going to now but it really gives us a chance. if he did we will draft him right away...

I also like Ansah and I don't think he is as much of a project as people are making him out to be...even if he is our whole team is a project right now and with that upside..I would love Jones or Ansah.....then Jordan

Mingo shouldnt even be in the discussion IMO.... Not a top 10 player. He's not even in my top 15. Give me Werner or Moore over him any day. On a team that can not afford to fuck up a top 10 pick on a passrusher again, he would not even be on my radar.

To many in this thread- I think you guys are overreacting about this 4.9 thing. What did you expect hi to run? I would say a 4.75 is reasonable. The only thing holding Jones back from being a top 3 player in the draft was his "Spinal Stenosis"... A poor proday isnt going to change that.

And if teams are truly ignorant enough to pass on him because of it, then some team is going to get a steal of a player. Remember when Suggs ran a 4.9 and he fell?

God I would love to have this guy ob the team.

Watching our D-Line and Jarvis work next year would be good enough for me.
