I know his pro day is today...but I think that Tyler Bray might be a sleeper pick come draft day. He is a big guy at 6'6 and has a great arm. I feel like he would be a nice pick up for the JETS in the fourth round possibly.
Tyler Bray = Mark Sanchez Great physical attributes, but no leadership ability and generally a headcase. At least that's the general view from here in Knoxville, TN.
Million dollar body, ten cent brain. He ha stone tools you look for ia QB with pro potential, but as stated he's not a leader or very mature as a person. As a later round project? Sure. In the first two rounds? No way.
I wouldn't mind in the 5th round + if there's no other guy that we could use at another position. He has all the tool in size and arm strength, but if you watch some of his games he looks really sloppy. His footwork is terrible and he holds the ball out like its nothing.
That's the frustrating thing about watching him. He's got the talent but really needs some fine-tuning physically & mentally. I think he'd be a good pickup by the Chiefs in the 3rd or 4th. Reid has a good rep for getting QB to achieve. Plus the mid rounder means Chiefs don't have a lot of $$ in him & didn't blow a high pick. Alex Smith can hold it down for a couple years easily.
Actually, I believe it's our new OC that allowed Reid to get the rep for being able to develop QB's. Let's say hell freezes and Sanches turns into the QB Tanny envisioned when we drafted Sanchez, would we credit Ryan for the miracle? I think not. As for Bray, he reminds me a lot of another QB the Jets drafted last decade from UT named Ainge. He too had all the physical ability you could want and even performed well against UPS employees, but he too had the ten cent brain (and a habit to boot). Hated the thought of drafting Ainge, but could live with Bray on day three.
I like his talent, but I don't think he's a good fit for a WCO. He's not that great on intermediate routes, and can be wild at times with his throws. Also a gunslinger mentality, and throws off of his back foot a lot. But he has one of the best deep passes I've ever seen, and if he could be fixed mechanically, I think he could turn out to be very good for someone. I think he goes to the Chiefs or Bills in the second or third.
He's not any good. Don't select him. He's a terrible QB. He had weapons at Tennessee and couldn't produce. Bad decision-maker and overall a jackass. Stay away Jets
See, I actually wouldn't mind Bray. My thing is that he comes from a completely dysfunctional Tennessee program. While you obviously want your QB to rise above that, I cant totally fault him. Certainly wouldnt consider him higher than round four with that said: HE IS STILL A PROJECT
