I think the media will beat the drums. I think most of the fan base is expecting a down year so if it happens they won't be surprised
They're elite because they're trying to do things to make themselves better. What did we do last year? Sign Tebow....yeah, that's GREAT. That's how you build an elite organization. They sucked, but it's a 'what have you done for me lately' league. The 49ers sucked for a while, but how many fans really remember that now? That's why yours and rico college's argument about Jets being better than Seahawks is inane. They may have been better then...but now? Fat chance. Tl;dr: They got better, while we got worse.
Funny how you left that last year off. Also that you do not account for tanny being the guy that ran the cap into the ground so badly that we had to let go a ton of starters, are saddled with Sancez, and traded for the great distraction known as tebow. For a cap guy he really fucked our cap over. Back to Seattle, they had mild success while rebuilding, last year they made the playoffs while in one of the toughest divisions in football, and now are moving forward with a very competitive young roster. Yea I would hate to be in that position in a few years. I'm happy for the first time in well over a decade we have someone outside of the Parcells tree calling the shots. It was past due for a fresh approach at building a team.
Rex's mouth can be embarrassing at times, but he is a hell of a coach. This year with Marty running the O should at least field an exciting Competitive team. Ground and pound became really dull and drab last year. First down run between the center and guard was about a 70/30 split. We really needed to change things up on that side of the ball. On defense I expect us to still bring the same aggressive scheme with the younger LB. it should be a exciting season to watch even if its below what some fans expectations.
I worked for the Jets, you got a point? His dad worked for the Jets and he played some football. I don't think his coaching the Aberdeen Oilers is exactly a resume for NFL success. The guy is essentially a contracts man with some general football background, no different than Mike T.
Yeah it will be interesting. He's always needed Vets like Bart, Jim Leonhard and even Pouha and Revis. Without those players moving forward (assuming Revis is traded), I wonder how Rex will handle it. He's going to have to have other veterans step u like Harris and even Wilkerson and take on a bigger role. We've been talking about this with Harris for years though... Realistically, I would say 3 years. Im going to assume Sanchez is a lost cause at this point, because he hasnt proven otherwise in recent years. If we get lucky and are in position to draft a franchise QB next year, then that could be cut down to 2 years if he can step in and perform immediately.
I agree. Its clear that Idzik had his team on the rise while Tanny had the Jets on a downward trend. Idzik maintained a low cap while loading the roster with cheap, young and talented players while keeping every position competitive. Tanny on the other hand risked everything for a 2 year window, overpaying veterans about to exit their prime and trade multiple picks for just 1 player. He inflated the cap and caused this mess we are in right now. The Seahawks on the other hand havent given out huge contracts and have a lot of players on their roster who havent even hit their prime. The Seahawks are set up to be competitive for the next 4+ years. We were set up to win big in 2010 and failed. I wonder which one is better?
Before the rookie salary cap was impossed Tanny was clearly very succesful and Seattle sucked. Seattle hasn't won dick yet even though the rule change that they didn't know was coming came and favored a different approach. Tanny was clearly setting us up to unload salary this year and next and Idzik so far is carrying out that plan.
Point well taken, Seattle should not be in the same list as the rest. I would say though that defensively they appear to have made some pretty good drafts and overall they look like a young explosive and aggressive Team with nothing but upside. I cant help but think they seem to have a much more cohesive leadership approach than us aimed at the long run and pointing the ship in the right direction. 100% correct, Johnson is all over the map, that was part of our problem, not sure where the fit is between the GM and the HC. Net year moves will tell us if on the same page or not. Something tells me Johnson will let the new GM alone.
