The good thing for you Sanchez apologists is that the Jets haven't acquired any good weapons - so there's a built-in excuse already for next year!

"How can a guy be successful when he's throwing to Cumberland, Hill (can't catch), Kerley(glorified slot reciever), a diva in Holmes who's declining... and LOOK at his RBs.. Mike Goodson? Who?"

I'm not making excuses for anyone. No QB would play well with those players as their top options with a raw Stephen Hill. Mark with Holmes, Keller and Kerley healthy all 16 games wouldn't of been ranked 35th. I'm not saying he would light it up either.

Consider all of the factors that led to that ranking

You would have a point if his numbers from 2012 weren't in line with his career averages.

Outside of 2010 he always has 20+ turnovers and is somewhere between 54-56 completion percentage. He also usually throws about 13-18 TD's, 2011 was the exception when he had 24 td's.

Regardless of the "weapons" 2012 was a standard Mark Sanchez season.

Ummmm...thanks for making his point. With healthy weapons, he would have had a befter season,

That's simply false. 2012 was Mark's worst year besides 2009, his rookie season. Given the injuries, it's no surprise either. Holmes & Keller healthy = 2-3 more wins for us at least. Mark improved his game in almost all categories every year on the team, with the exception of 2012, and his turnovers in 2011. 2012 was a down year. Better weapons = better Sanchez. I don't think that's deniable at this point. Also in 2011, he had 26 TDs (not 24), plus 6 rushing for a total of 32 (5th highest in the league). 2012 was BELOW average for him. All you have to do is look on ESPN to tell you that. Look at the averages. He was below his average in every category last year. By no means am I an apologist or sympathizer or whatever illogical metaphor you can use to describe it, but I'm just correcting your "facts". It was not a standard season for him. He regressed back to rookie year numbers, unlike 2010 and 2011 where he showed improvement. I'm not saying he's great or even good, but he CAN be successful if surrounded by the right people similar to Alex Smith. One of my pet peeves is when people post false stats. Please don't do that. It's dishonest and shows that your intentions are not unbiased. Sanchez made me cringe at times last season, but that's no excuse to post false stats or claim his year was average, when basic math shows you are wrong.

 at using a religious term like apologist. GTFO with that. Like seriously, how many folks are still defending Sanchez religiously? 1? maybe 2?

    i've come to back mark

he did ok last year with a terrible set of wr , awful ol, awful rb
he did pretty good first couple of years

lets see if the new oc and gm can supply jets with enuf offensive weapons to help passing game-----if we had held off brady in last 30 seconds of game jets would have been 4-3 and in hunt rest of season-----he played bad at the end but so would have brady brees etc with the weapons we had

Me too. He was awful, and would have been literally unwatchable but for the fascination of seeing just how badly an NFL Qb could play. The buttfumble did have its humorous element as well.

But now is different. I don't want to see him in a Jet uniform ever again.

Ummmfor a guy with your screen name, thats remarkably ironic.

But Hill,Holmes,Kerley,Cumberland,Edwards is more than enough under MM, for Sanchez to succeed. If he doesnt, he never will, and we'll be wrong...but when he does...

Barcs here are his career completion percentage

    2009- 53.8
    2010- 54.8
    2011- 56.7
    2012- 54.3

Look at 2009-2011 his numbers with "better weapons" are right around the same as 2012.

    Lets look at TD's

    2009- 12
    2010- 17
    2011- 26 (a career high)
    2012- 13

outside of 1 year (2011) his TD's are around the same range (12-17)

    Let's look at turnovers

    2009- 23 (3 lost fumbles, 20 int's)
    2010- 14 (career low 1 lost fumble 13 int's)
    2011- 26 (8 lost fumbles, 18 int's)
    2012- 26 (8 lost fumbles, 18 int's)

My point is that during the years when he had "weapons" his numbers were on par with 2012. So not having enough "weapons" is not the issue. The issue is that Mark Sanchez is not a good QB.

Apologist is not strictly a religious term.

    Apologist:

a person who makes a defense in speech or writing of a belief, idea, etc.

How many? Including you, I think that makes 4.

Again he is a fourth year Qb going into his fifth he is not a ten year starter. Fourth year Qbs usually make a jump but this is two fold weapons are usually added when you draft a Qb as high as Sanchez not decimated and the QB gets better.

If Mark cuts down on the turnovers he does enough well to be a good QB in the league. This is why the Jets are not going to bring in a Kolb, Campbell name your Jag QB.

The Jets will give Mark a chance to win the QB competition and redeem his career. If he loses the QB competition to Garrard or continues to be the turnover machine Mark is gone and we will be drafting a QB high in 2014.

If he does well we have a young team with the building blocks to be really good with a couple good drafts.

Here is to Mark succeeding and the Jets contending once again if he fails it will be at least three or four years and probably a couple of Head coaches before the Jets compete again.

You can't use terms like "around the same range(12-17)" when you are looking at averages. Math is an exact science. Look at the link below. It has his career averages at the bottom. In 2012, his numbers were lower than average in EVERY category. TDs average out to 17 per season, NOT (12-17). He averages 17.25 picks per season, not "usually throws 20+". Sorry, but math of averages disagrees with your assessment.

    http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/12482/mark-sanchez

Here are Mark's years in best to worst:

    1. 2011 (playmakers: Holmes, LT, Keller, Plaxico)
    2. 2010 (playmakers: Edwards, Holmes, Keller, LT)
    3. 2012 (Holmes, Keller injured most of the season. playmakers: Greene, Kerley, maybe Mcknight)
    4. 2009 (playmakers: Edwards, Thomas Jones, Cotchery)

Weapons don't matter? You really don't see any difference between 2012 and 2010/2011?

You are denying the obvious. Getting a career high one year, doesn't warrant discounting it from the average. If you are talking averages, you need exact figures and comparisons, not arbitrary phrases like "except for 2011 he usually throws xyz". Based on the exact math, 2012 was a below average year for him. You can't deny it. 2012 was on par with 2009, but not the other years. I'm not saying he was amazing the other years, but he was better and had better weapons. To deny this is like denying the sky is blue.

Where have I defended Sanchez? I have merely corrected false stats and averages. I am trying to give an unbiased opinion based on actual stats. I'm not saying he's good. I'm just being honest. 2012 was a below average year for him compared with his career averages. That's a fact, not an apologetic statement of blind belief.

Yes, Browning Nagle sucked. Mark Sanchez sucks too. No irony there.

You must really think Morningwood is the second coming of Bill Walsh, buddy. He's not going to turn this shit-sandwich into a steak in one year. Hell, if he's a good coach, he's probably going to bench Sanchez...

He's probably slightly better than the last two guys, but he's not going to somehow turn Sanchez into a good QB... that chance sailed past a long time ago.
