With all this talk about the talent at the QB position for the 2014 draft, I wanted to see what everyone's scenario would be for us to be in the top 3 picks. Let's make this interesting though. Let's say we go at least 8-8 this year. I think we very well could do better than that as a sleeper team, but say we go 8-8. What would our options be and how would be get into that top 3 pick? The reason I started this is because I don't see this organization completely folding this year, especially under Rex Ryan and Idzik in his first year. We need that franchise QB and 2014 is the draft to get him. It's a catch 22, so let's hear your scenarios!
If you go 8-8 with Sanchez as the starter you won't be picking a QB next year. Sanchez will be sticking around.
if we go 8-8 and the 2 qb's are everything they are supposed to be. its going to take a "ditka" to get to #3. there is no way we are doing that
I would bet he will be cut before then. I am sure that Johnson is as pissed off with all the money he has wasted on him as he is with all the money he spent (not wasted) on Revis.
This is exactly why I think we won't be getting a top quarterback in any draft. We need to hit a diamond like Seattle did with Wilson. I can't see us doing worse than last year honestly, which in turn will not give us a high enough pick to grab a QB. Whether Sanchez gets us to 8-8 or higher, he will not be staying here
Man Hobbes I appreciate ur conviction but IMO its more likely the US deficit actually goes lower from here for the next 3 years than Sanchez starting in 2014
there is a time and place to be bold. idzick would ned to hit on every draft pick this year in order to do it. or he can bat .500 over this and the next draft. than pull the trigger in 2015 on a big trade up if the qb is there. its a big risk so you want to make sure the roster is pretty deep first. the redskins did it and injury aside do not regret it, however i think they were a year too early
we won't get more than 5 wins. have you seen our schedule? I want Bridgewater or Clowney. then take either Murray, Boyd or McCarron in the 2nd.
There are so many scenarios where the Jets could be top 3 next year at this point. None of them are more than a long shot. Basically if it happens it happens but it probably won't. Trading Revis for compensation including a 2014 #1 pick would certainly help.
Have you seen the Jets schedule this year? They went 6-10 against a bad schedule last year and have gotten (most likely) even worse. This year they are playing the likes of AFC North & NFC South (Saints, Falcons, Panthers, Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, etc.) I have a hard time seeing the Jets win more than 4-5 games this year. The Jets will most likely have a top-5 pick next year, and possibly another team's first round pick. The Jets having a top-3 pick when all-said-and-done does not seem unlikely to me
Because getting the 2014 version of Ryan Tannehill or Christian Ponder or Blaine Gabbert will set us up? For what?
