That will be next year after they can dump Harris, Sanchez and Holmes and should speak volumes about why they want to trade him now. It's not the money. Well, it is the money to some extent but it is as much about dealing with him and his agents and the fact that no CB will ever be worth QB money.

...and I'd still prefer next years pick.

    Agreed.

2014 1st rounder > 2013 1st rounder. Doesn't matter if Bucs have a better record. The 2014 pick can be part of a trade up package & 2014 is deeper on QB (and there's Clowney).

Thier 2013 first is the 13 th overall pick. 2014? No one knows how good, or bad it could be.

You dream of a trade up for a QB or clowney? You need to ask yourself if you were in line to draft one would you trade out? If so at what cost. Even with two firsts next year you are not assured of getting one of them.

Idzik by all mean will take the best deal for now and the future. The 2013 first has more value despite any fans belief. The ability to add to high first round picks to the current lineup would greatly speed up the rebuild.

Not to mention by chart value, any pick next year is worth a pick 1 round earlier in this year (ex. a 1st next year is worth a 2nd this year, a 2nd next year is worth a 3rd this year) usually due to the fact that you are getting the player this year which is a huge advantage...

I understand their desire to get a QB next year, but lets face it, if your in the top two or three, its because of shitty QB play as much as anything. QB needy teams are not moving off the chance to draft a guy like Bridgwater or Johnny Football. The fact the the Rams traded out of the chance to get RG3 is still shocking, even with Bradford and look at the haul they got for that deal.

We need talent everywhere and need it now. A first this year would be huge. A first next year is nothing more than a question mark and a sign that you think 2013 is not that important.

    Completely agree here.

We are currently rebuilding this entire roster. We lost 12 people off the team and are currently adding into the holes little by little both through Free Agency and definitely through the draft.

Right now, we have needs almost everywhere. With another first round pick this year, we would be picking at #9 and #13 if we took Tampa's pick. That's an awesome chance to grab an OLB and a TE in the first round to fill both the pass rushing and TE void we currently have.

Like what was said before, you never know what could happen next year. We could maybe trade up next year to go after the QB we see fit, but right now, we need all the talent we can get. Take the first this year and start the rebuilding process.

I'm sort of leaning towards keeping Revis now that CB market value has plummeted. Pretty torn here.

    As am I.

Not only because of that, but because CB's are needed badly in our division. With Tom Brady and now with the Dolphins signing all their passing weapons, we are going to need shut down corners. Cro and Revis could be deadly together with Cro playing the way he did last season and Revis healthy.

I'd rather just keep Revis. this years draft is pretty weak at the top. we most likely won't get Milliner with one of those picks. then we would have to waste too many picks on secondary (gonna need a corner and a few safeties.)

Jordan will probably be off the board, but if you were to oick up 13, you could walk away with Jarvis Jones, kenny vaccaro, and Gio Barnard in the first 39 picks.

    Not a bad haul.

At this point I'm hoping Revis realizes that he won't be getting a 16M or something ridiculous like that in the market and he signs an extension thats reasonable.

but tampa is in florida, where there is no state income tax. that has to be worth another 5-7% over ny, nj, mass, or pa.

so, he can lower his demands to only 15M .......:breakdance:

If Jones is healthy (as reported), he's a better player than Jordan and is long gone by 9. He very well could be the best player in the draft if he's okay medically, which according to a doctor, the original diagnosis was false.

Also, I dont really see Vaccaro presenting great value at 13, but thats another discussion for the draft forum...

We all want to keep Revis.

Although I'm in the trade Revis camp, deep down I wish he & Jets can strike a deal that won't kill the Jets cap moving forward. I'd also wish Revis would be happy with his new contract and stop holding out for a raise.

Unfortunately, I'm just too cynical to believe any of these wishes will come true.

It doesn't take being cynical to realize that. Observing the past history will give you an ample clue. He is going to look for the big pay day, and he will cry for more if he can too. All the more reason to let him be someone else's headache.

P.S. If TB is willing to part with 1 this year and 1 next year (instead of 1/2 this year) they know they got a deal.

Wow - you expect 2 firsts for Revis? While i'd love that i can't imagine that happening as the Bucs are not willing to give their first this year at all (as reported as shitty NY Beat reporters do).

Honestly, if we can get at least their 1st this year we should be extremely happy. I think TB is having trouble parting with that much, let alone next years 1st also.

1st and a 2nd or 3rd round pick this year and a conditional pick next year (which can increase up to a 1st round pick).
