Out of that bunch the only one realistically might be is Flynn. I can't imagine us trading within our division.
Do you cut yourself? Every option is being reviewed, including your savior Tebo...I mean Mevis. When you don't have winning season 2yrs in a row after back to back conf. championships, no 1 player is safe for improving the organization. These drama-queen reactions regarding WJ and Mevi$'s apparently fragile ego are from clowns. Do the words, "Ringling Bros" appear on your resume?
what is not a shame is the fact that you are not, in any way, connected to the Jets in a fashion that would even remotely allow you to make such a trade even if they had cap space.
They're calling Revis's bluff. Revis and his agents are trying to strong arm the Jets by leaking stories about possible trades and forcing the Jets' hand. Idzik is letting the free agent market play out so Revis can see that there are no $16 million/year contracts to be had. Revis can sign a reasonable extension or they can trade him and he'll get the same amount of money elsewhere. My guess is Revis comes to his sense and signs a 4 year extension for $9-10 million a year, with $25-30 million guaranteed.
Its not a bad trade. Revis has little trade value because 1) You have to pay him 2) You have to give up something for him You are setting your franchise back by trading for Revis because not only do you lose future draft picks but you also are going to lose 16 million out of your cap space for a player who is coming off a bad injury. Ill be happy for a 3rd round pick and even thats a stretch.
Heres how I see it playing out: Jets start season with Revis, Revis proves he is back. Jets start off bad say 2-5. A team with high expectations like the Niners or Falcons starts off slow like 3-4 or 4-3 and are having secondary issues. Trade deadline is week 8? Now that Revis has auditioned himself and proves he is still the best through 7 weeks, his trade value is at all time high. Then the Jets can pull a first or 2nd from a team I believe. Some of these teams windows are closing, so to have Revis for half a season might be worth it.
The Jets got a Super Bowl MVP for a 5th rounder. Revis hasnt proven hes healthy, his value isnt that high. No team wants to give up a first rounder for a player thats coming off a severe injury, and then ontop of that you have to pay him 16 million which few teams have to spend.
At the time Rice made his statement, Revis said to the press he wants to stay with the team. There is nothing with exploring every option. As I said in my post, I am not opposed to trading him. If they can get a good package, go for it. I would to go into draft day with 5 picks in the first 3 rounds. So trying to paint me as someone who thinks Revis is untouchable or trying to mock my faith is silly in light of my actual point. It's just the way they are handling it. But if you think Woody's quote was a good move for the franchise, that's your prerogative. I just disagree completely.
The problem with Cousins is that for the most part he is an unproven 4th round draft pick. He played good last year against the Browns but thats not saying much. Anyone that wants Cousins might as well just grab one of the QBs in the 4th round this year without giving up the best all time corner as compensation.
revis wants to be on the jets. this is a game of leverage. if the jets are willing to trade him, and he wants to stay on the team, then he must respect their side in the negotiations and cannot pull the usual stops (hold-outs etc., cause he will be traded if thats the case). this means that, they certainly must be willing to trade him if the right deal comes, but they also believe that darrelle actually does want to stay a jet (he keeps saying he wants to...). basically, if they cant come to terms on a reasonable salary, then he might be dealt to the highest bidder. i think plan a involves keeping him though. it doesnt seem like the team thinks 2013 is a throwaway season...
Kirk Cousins was a 4th round pick last year. I wouldn't trade the 39 for him at this point let alone Darrelle Revis.
While I agree, I think Cousins proved he is more than a 4th round draft picks. TBH when the Redskins took him, I felt they took him to get more back in return. Turn a 4th round draft pick into a 2nd in return is golden. The Eagles did it with Kolb. They got Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2nd back for Kolb who was drafted as a 2nd himself. Cromartie was a 1st rounder so thats a steal.
Personally I dont want Cousins, id rather get a draft pick but Cousins does have potential. Redskins arent trading him so its not really a discussion. Its actually possible that Shanahan likes Cousins over RG3. I wont be surprised if there is QB controversy in Washington. Will be interesting, especially if Rg3 isnt ready for week 1, and Kirk comes out hot,
There is no way that Shanahan likes Cousins over RGIII. He traded a huge amount of value to the Rams for RGIII last year and then waited until round 4 to take Cousins.
that is absolutely ridiculous. Revis has a high trade value if you need his service at CB. the idea that having a shut down corner is not valuable to a team is laughable. the value is simply how you value the salary and the asset you give up, that being a draft pick. if you think Revis is worth the salary and better than the player you will draft with the pick, that means he is valuable.
I can make completely fabricated scenarios up myself. no team wants to miss out on adding a player of Revis' caliber for a 1st rounder if he is healthy. and no team wants to lose out on getting him if he can be had for the current market value, not Revis' previously outdated demands.
Look ill be thrilled if we get a 1st or 2nd but I just dont see it happening. Doing what the Cowboys did last year is more ideal for a team looking for a corner, they traded up for Claiborne and obviously do not have to pay him anywhere near as much as the Jets did.
