I don't think the Jets get that. That's a pretty good haul for a player coming off a serious injury, on a 1 year contract and looking for a huge payday. I think it would be great value, but I don't think anyone out there is going to offer it.
Unfortunately I think your right. Anything less than a 1st and 3rd isn't worth it to me. Sent from my LG-P999
+1 FFS I'd take that in a heartbeat. This draft looks pretty weak to me and would look to trade the 2nd and 6th (if we traded Revis) away for another round 1 pick in 2014. Revis isn't going anywhere, not at least until TC is well under way. If I'm a GM of another team wanting the trade and having to cough up mucho dinero, I want to see a clean bill of health. What a lovely problem to have. We have the best CB in the league and don't need to be held to ransom in a trade deal. If he does get dealt it will be a huge boost in rebuilding and our future. Idzek seems to be a patient dude, Jets fans are not. I just hope he's given the time and patience from Fans to finally get this team moving the right direction
I've read the quotes and really see it as posturing. There has been so much talk about a potential deal some of it must be true. If it was just our beat guys I would question it, but it's other teams writers, national writers, just about anyone that has any tie to the NFL has had a Revis trade story. I think Woody is doing his part to try and drive the price up. Just like the pre draft babble, this is about misleading more than informing.
Since it hasn't happened yet, why should we think that will happen now? I think the other players think Revis was not paid what Tanny said he was going to pay him three years ago, and everybody knows they were going to redo the deal this year if they wanted to keep him past the coming season. BFD. Players don't like other players who do not play hard, or are a locker room problem, or who get into trouble off the field and bring that into the locker room. None of those are true of Revis. Meanwhile i don't know of any cases where players get pissed because another player tried to get compensation he deserved from management. You are making up an issue that does not exist.
You must really hate Revis or something.. we get it, you'd like to see the Jets trade him - but why say crap like this that is overly accusational and false. Every player in the league recognizes that it's a business and they are ALL out to get every last dollar they can. Revis is no differant that 98% of the league, in that regard. He's actually the opposite inside the locker room, he's a respected vet in the Jets clubhouse. A hard worker and by all accounts he sets a great example with his film study and desire to win. Articles have come out in recent years about him helping guys like Kyle Wilson and Cromartie to be the best they can on the field and it's obvious he wants to win. Honestly, I doubt the contract thing is even that big of a deal amongst the players. They all recognize he's a great player and deserves to be paid - I doubt it has any lingering effects other than them probably hoping he DOES get paid. As for their own situations, they are all trying to get the most $$ they can get either way, so Revis' situation is irrelevant to their own.
With Brad it's more about his article of faith that CB is an unimportant position. But yes, sometimes it comes across as a personal animosity. I wonder why anyone here would feel the need to just flat out make something up like that.
95% (or probably 100%) of these guys would do the same in terms of trying to extract every last cent. they just don't have the talent that Revis has.
This is a Jets forum, not a Revis forum. The main forum had at least 5 Revis threads when I logged in last night. That's not necessary. If you care to discuss this further please follow up via PM.
1st Team All-Pro's in 2010 were: Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Devin McCourty. It was one of those years where the AP, PFW and SI could not agree on the 1st Team All-Pros and in a big way. If you look at my original post it's 1st Team All-Pros.
Owner Woody Johnson left the door wide open Sunday night when asked whether the Jets will trade Darrelle Revis. The Jets are trading Revis and you can take that to the bank. "It’s not one player," said Johnson. "No team is just one player away, maybe with the exception of the quarterback. You can’t be distracted by one player. You have to look at everything." Johnson called reports he doesn't want to sign Revis long term, "a little bit exaggerated." Asked if Revis would be on the Jets' 2013 roster, Johnson replied "It depends. We’d like to have him on the team. But we’re trying to always make the team better. He’s on the team right now." Nice to see Woody's been fitted for his clown nose early this year. Is this the way to really talk about your franchise player and one of the best defenders in the league?? "He's on the team right now"?? This is bush league. Woody and Idzik have been HORRIBLE with their handling of Revis' situation. Why do they need to keep talking to the press? What did Woody do to help the franchise by sharing his nonsense? Jerry Rice put it best on ESPN a couple of weeks ago when he said if he was in Revis' position, he'd want to get as far away from this franchise as possible. Even if you want to trade Revis (which I am not even opposed to), showing him no respect in the media, avoiding his agent, lying about trying to trade him at the combine and alienating him is just a ridiculous way to go about it.
Woody Johnson to Earth: we're looking to deal Revis. If you have an offer bring it because he's going somewhere before training camp. He can't say that, because it will hurt the Jets bargaining position in a trade. So what we get instead is the lukewarm stuff that lets everybody know that it is going to happen without letting a potential trade partner say "you said you were trading him, this is our best offer take it or leave it."
This is Revis Related (kind of).... IF we did end up trading Revis and part of the deal was a QB (starter calibre) going the other way which Teams have at least 2 starter calibre players on their roster? My brother works in the airline industry and was chatting with someone with 'connections' within the NFL, no idea who, (could be a cleaner ha ha) and is fairly confident that this is whats going to happen. Yeah I know its all speculation, but according to my Bro he was fairly convincing.
The Clown Show continues. But... I again am encouraged that Idzik has been talking to Revis's agents. Of course we dont know what they are saying, but this is better than them not talking at all. But putting aside the Revis situation in particular, this sure seems like another example of Woody accomplishing nothing positive by opening his mouth. He should really take some lessons from the owner whose team most recently won the Super Bowl. Let your football people run the team and otherwise stay out of it.
That wouldn't be terrible, I guess, but it's hard for me to imagine such a trade really working in our favor. The Bucs certainly don't have an upgrade at QB. I'm trying to think of other teams, but nothing's coming to mind. Anyways, who knows at this point. I'd really like Revis to be resigned, but I'd be happy if we got equal exchange. Would I be in favor of trade Revis trade for a more-certain QB asset like, I don't know, Cam Newton? Definitely.
The only NFL team that currently has two starting caliber QB's on their roster is the Titans with Jake Locker and Matt Hasselbeck. You have to assume Locker will make it and Hasselbeck's rocking chair won't collapse underneath him to get to that position. There are several NFL teams that have a backup QB that you could maybe double-vision into an NFL starter and have them prove you right. Dolphins with Tannehill and Moore. Redskins with RGIII and Cousins. Seahawks with Wilson and Flynn. Eagles with Vick and Foles.
