Just curious......was it reported or rumored that they might move Wilson to Free Safety? Or just your speculation?

I don't think Wilson is as bad as alot of Jets fans do, but would be interesting to see him get a shot at FS. It worked for Lowery (even though he and Wilson are different players with different skill sets) but I think its worth a shot. Worst comes to worst, you just move Kyle back to CB and he has a little experience to be your emergency safety if the injury bug hits us hard.

This is what I think is going to wind up happening.

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
Woody Johnson says he believes the team's attempts to trade Revis have been "exaggerated." Says there is no "contract fatigue."

    Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet
John Idzik says he has talked with Revis' agents. Won't delve into the substance of those talks. That contradicts with what has been claimed

The second one is interesting. Might just be talk to show we will keep Revis, but good to hear a report saying we aren't ignoring Revis' agents

So far my only critique of Idzik has been the whole not talking to Revis's agents thing...so if that's not the case then I have no complaints so far.

I have a feeling that JETS will extend Revis contract, because:
    1. So far, FA corners are not getting paid. Thus Revis & his agent will more likely to accommodate realistic price tag.
    2. JETS might see the need for Revis after seeing Dolphins & Pats signing potentially dangerous WRs.

All in all, Idzik seems to be well thought out GM, not making hasty decisions. Hope all things work out for us.

+1. While it's very early in Idzik's tenure and he doesn't have much experience, it certainly seems like he's handled this difficult situation well so far.

One could make an argument that your #1 means other teams will find it easier to accommodate Revis and thus Jets are more likely to find a trade partner.

Yet they are still relentless on trying to get revis and the rest of the world to think we are mistreating him and don't want him.. they just dont want us to hold the best CB

That's a good point. If the number was $16mil (which is way too high IMO) and now is maybe more like $10mil there might be more teams willing to make a trade which increases value.

Or we just resign him, which I would still be cool with.

The problem here is the NFL still operates on a Star system.

Watch ANY game critically, and listen to how every player is superlative in one form or another.

The player always gets the media hand job.

Go find an article that starts with the phrase...two time holdout.

While I'm anxious to see what Bush can bring to the table, I highly doubt we go into 2013 with Bush and Allen as our only two Safety's with any experience and/or potential.

Whether it be a early to mid round draft pick, a FA (i.e. Dawan Landry, Pollard, Huff, Abram Elam, Pool, etc) or a vet that becomes available after cuts......they will definitely bring in someone that will atleast compete with Bush and Allen at the Free and Strong Safety spots respectively.

If Bush is our starter in 2013, I have no problem with that and it's probably a good sign he has made progress with all the other available options out there.

Either way, I wasn't asking who will be our starting FS next year, I was responding to a post about the possibility of Wilson getting a shot at FS and if it was reported or rumored.....or just speculation on the poster who first brought it up.

If the price point comes down to $10 million per it makes sense to sign him given the cost to trade him. Locking up both corners for the next 5 years is huge given the passing strength in the afc east.

Because having both corners playing at a very high level has enabled the Jets to beat the Patriots on a consistent basis?

It would appear the mods moved my thread into this mess...THANKS!!!!! I really wanted to weed through 35 pages of this crap. Just because there is more than one thread about a player doesn't mean we all want to dig all the time.

I really think we are going to resign him. we'll see how he performs in mini camp, pre season and maybe even a few regular season games then give him a contract.

Is there some basis for this or is this a wild ass guess?

The overall value is about equal to getting the 16 pick in this draft. It's four picks for the rebuild process. It's a second shot at a lottery pick in '14 when the top of the draft looks really interesting.

It's a deal that a team that really wanted Revis could do without worrying too much about the long-term ramifications.

The Jets aren't going to get better than a couple of high picks and a couple of fillers. Even if they had Revis under contract right now and were looking to move him they wouldn't do a lot better than that.
