There we go! Those are points I have been trying to make but everyone's mevising around here. A guys selfish because he wants a long term deal and to be paid like a top defensive player(which he is) what's so me about that. It's a business and guys are out to get paid and set there selves up for the rest of there lives. He's one of the greatest jets to ever play next to Curtis martin(not the same type of person Curtis is) but revis is a leader for this team and changes the way we run our defense. Part of the reason why are run defense wasn't as good this past season was because that extra Guy was in coverage instead of being in the box

Once again your right on point.
Plus the recievers now are bigger stronger faster. To go along with the rules that help them out so much. Contact after 5 yards, can't get drilled across the middle of your defenseless, no leading with the helmet, ect. The year revis shut down a handful of the top recievers was remarkable and no one has ever seen a corner did what he had http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=afceast&id=9203&src=desktop

Throw in shutting down Calvin Johnson, welker, fitz, boldin, bowe, that's just to name a few right now. Basically no reciever has beat revis. Bills fans will argue that Jackson did but all he did was run like a chicken with his head cut off and do a slant and pick up a few yards. How many games have they faced eachother and what was the outcome the majority of the time. No one can beat revis, I have yet to see it

im glad there are other guys out there who see whats going on. i mean if the jets plan is to not pay him and use the money elsewhere well then thats the plan but we dont need to hate the guy for wanting to do everything he can while he has the power. you know damn well any nfl team will send him RIGHT to the curb once he isnt as great as he is now.

this will probably be his last big pay day. you cant expect him to say oh well im going to leave 40% of my potential earnings on the table just because im a nice guy..

i know i am not going to help him out once he is done with football, im pretty sure no other fans are either. so i just cant kill a guy and call him selfish for trying to get what he can in the short window that he can get it.

and we just cant underestimate his brilliance, listen i am the last guy in the world who looks at things with rose colored glasses but man this guy is amazing. he shuts down EVERYONE he faces. time and time again. the only guy who has had even minimal success against him is stevie johnson but that was only in one game and i am pretty sure he still didnt get 100 on him.

like ive said in the past, i understand if the jets decide to go in another direction... its a really shitty spot that both revis and the jets are in right now. but for gods sake give the guy a little credit instead of calling him an asshole.

Charles Woodson, has only played 15 years, and only has 55 takeaways...but yeah..,Revis is better.

From what I've been reading on PFT and other places a lot of top FA aren't getting anywhere near what they were hoping for. Even top DB's are only getting offered $6-$8M. Some Agents are saying they have never seen the FA market so bad and some Agents are even talking about 'collusion' amongst the owners.

Either way it can't sound too good for Revis who's asking like double+ what anyone else is getting.....

Still don't see why we won't take the 2014 1st round pick, that draft is supposed to be deeper and better than this one.

Because a pick potentially in the 20's in 2014 is not close to Revis value. The Jets need to get some players back this year also to help the rebuild and then have the '14 pick be the capper to further that effort.

If they had no other potential suitors then that '14 pick could set the market but I'll guarantee you that they'll get at least that type of return on Revis in August if they have to wait that long. Given that reality there's no reason for them not to sit back and wait for the market to develop.

It would be not out of the realm of possibility for the Jets to get a 2013 2nd and 6th and a 2014 1st and 4th. That's about the best deal I think the Jets could get at this point.

He can't afford to hold out because if he does his contract extends for I believe 2 years at 750k. Holding out is simply not an option for him.

What they do is a hell of a lot more important than some guy who plays with a ball,i could give a shit less about contracts. Pro atheletes make way too much money. Laron Landry makes millions and can't even speak proper english

You don't mention that there will be additional cap hits next year if he is traded

not disagreeing, but the market dictates what the pay is. this isn't thread to debate it,just saying, revis had a roster bonus in his contract. the clean up crews negotiated their pay. i am pretty sure they arent being marched into those buildings at gun point

Revis costs the Jets $9 mil toward the cap this year if he stays, $4 mil if he goes. This is, based on his current contract, due to the prorated bonus which counts for $3 mil and the current year contract of $6 mil, $1 mil of which is already paid and counts toward this year no matter what.

I think you are counting the dead money and not cap money in your $12 mil.

The way his contract was written he has only the $3 mil prorated bonus carry over that will count against next years cap.
