With CB value being driven down league-wide, there is a chance we'll be able to keep Revis Christ imo.

at this point, revis is better than all of them. the rules revis plays under and the ability that teams have to throw the ball at this point.. and he still shuts down people as well or better than those guys.

rod woodson was great, not better than revis... no way
charles woodson? seriously? at this point in his career was NOWHERE near where revis is.
deion was a great cover corner, how about coming up to make a tackle? yeah he didnt do that very important part of the game, revis does. the only thing i will give deion is that he returned kicks. but as a corner, its tough but revis gets it because he can defend the run too.
night train lane i have only seen tape of so i will have to trust those who say he isnt as good as deion was
imagine mike haynes if he couldnt beat you up all the way down the field. it isnt even close.

those guys are all great. ill take revis over every one of them though.

but that was never my point. i dont think i even said he was a top 5 all time cb. i think my point was that you are absurd in your absurdity.

1st in2014 is fine by me. There is no good QB prospect this year anyway.

Not only do I want him to stay because of his talent, but because the cap hit we would take is HUGE if we traded him.

I can't imagine Idzik trading him away without a couple high draft picks, including a first this year. I have a feeling we work out a long term deal with him and he retires a Jet.

I could be completely wrong, but I hope we don't give him away.

^$3m cap hit IIRC. That's not "huge" per se.

Go get another player then we will keep the player until he proves he's fully recovered then make the trade to SF or Den.

I expect the Revis trade to go through soon. What team will have the salary cap space left at the end of training camp, or even more incredibly, at the trading deadline?

Still something we cant really afford to take we need as much cap space as we can get. i think by next offseason we will be alot better money wise then expected and we can sign him im not writting it in stone but i have a feeling he will stay a jet too i just can see it playing out like that we will have flexibility in 2014.

Revis is selfish but that doesnt change that he wants to play with the jets.

You are. Wrong I mean. It'll be easier to cope if you just accept that Revis will not be a Jet in 14.

Why is this so hard to understand that Revis's days here are numbered? I'm not even arguing whether it is right or wrong, that's besides the point. FO made decision that Revis is out. It doesn't matter what you think his fair value is, what cap hit Jets might have to sustain. Whatever.... When the boss says an employee is out -- he is out. There only 2 relevant questions left:
    1. Where will you make him land? The answer is "as far from our division as you can".
    2. What is the most you can get for him? Note that this question has absolutely nothing to do with what he is worth and so bargaining starts with 2 overnight hookers.

If we trade him, our minimum hit will be $5 Million. Not something we can afford right now.

Before March 17th: $12 Million Hit

Between March 17th and Start of Workouts: $13 Million Hit

Before June 1st: $14 Million Hit

After June 1st: $5 Million Hit

After Start of Training Camp: $6 Million

Do you understand how little sense you make???
You're saying that Jets can't afford a 5M hit if they trade Revis, but have no problem with 15M hit if they keep him... Did you fail 3rd grade math or something?

Idzik could structure a deal to minimize the cap hit in 2013.

Doens't have to be anywhere near $15 Million

I'd only accept a2&3 this yr and a 1&3 in 14....we shud at least get back what we gave up fir him which was a 1&2....so adding two additional 3s for him is cheap

Riiiight. Lets pay less now, more later. Weren't you bitching when Tanny was doing it? But even forget this.
So it won't be 15M this year. Are you gonna tell it'll be less than 5 that seems to be such a big deal for you? Before answering recall that Revis insists on his contracts to be front loaded so if anything you'll pay MORE than 15 this year.

Right on! Revis is the best corner ever. He is worth two firsts and a mid round pick. If jets traded him for less I would be pissed reding him and make him a jet for life! We have the cap room after this season

Here it is so you can understand.

We most likely will be able to afford the monster cap hit next year and we will be better off trading him knowing he is healthy given the market right now.

It doesn't matter how you massage the numbers, it's still 15M.
