I know we're a group that bleeds green and white, but it has been a long time since we've been eliminated from playoff contention in March. Meanwhile the Fins and Pats are making the right moves. Depressing as hell, I certainly won't put my heart into this team this year, its not worth the pain. So what will you guys look for when watching this team on field this year?
  and more  thats how. Its gonna be a long painful aggravating season unless they do something to bring in a few players. We lost alot the last few weeks and replaced with a bunch of nobodys.
It's simple for me. This was a year that needed to happen due to contract mismanagement. I'll be watching to see the young guys develop. If the team gels, plays hard, and is in every game I can see Rex keeping his job during the rebuild. Depending on the draft and the development of the young guys this turnaround could be quicker than many expect.
Expect the bad hope for the best... simple I think our D is still elite idc what the media says offense will be different for better or worse I think the division will be tough..
Look for our young stars to emerge and show promise and future potential.Look for guys like Wilk and Coples to take that next step, guys like Demario Davis to step in as a leader,Kerley further emerge as a legit wideout threat, look for the guys we draft this year to step up and hopefully make immediate impact.BTW I just dont think the Fins are going to be as good as everyone is making them out to be this year.
I'll watch with low expectation because there will be low expectations. Every win we get will be exciting and I'll be excited for new faces. I believe we went 4-12 one year and we beat Pitt before getting destroyed by DAL on thanksgiving. That win against PITT was so exciting because nobody expected it, we were supposed to roll over (Which we then did on Thanksgiving)
We were eliminated in March last year also. I'm going to enjoy watching a scrappy underdog play next year. Rex's defense will be competent. The offense can't get any worse. The team should win somewhere between 5 and 9 games. That's watchable. The Jets have actually won between 5 and 9 games 6 times in the last 12 years. What we're going to see next year isn't that far off the beaten path.
We are eliminated?when? This doom and gloom is ridiculous . We lost 1player that is going to be hard to replace.all the other guys were slow and old or jags. Rex will have a good defense and there is no way the offense is worse. The systems alone will keep us at 6-10 at minimum You guys need to get off the ledge and stop reading the pissed off writers that have been shut out from the team
6-10? So you think with the same players minus Landry, Scott, Keller, Greene, and Pouha. We're going to have the same record ,if not better? Keep dreaming...
Flajetfan I like your optimism and spunk,,,,,but until I see how our linebackers perform,,,,and until we replace possibly 3 /4 of our secondary as we have zero safeties, and Revis on the way out,,,,not to mention the qb question mark,,,,, I will enjoy my ledge.
Only Landry on that list played at a high level last year. Keller is the only other guy worthy of starting on another NFL team. Scott was old, slow, and played just over 50% of the defensive snaps due to injury. Same goes for Pouha, except his snap count was closer to 35%. Greene was a decent guy who signed else where to be a backup, not a starter. Our biggest problem remains inconsistent QB play in the area nothing has changed. But of the guys you listed Landry is the only one worth lamenting his loss. The others are replaceable parts.
I think it's hilarious that with FAs still signing and the Draft coming up, you're already ruling everything out. I'm not saying we're SB bound, but damn, at least wait until after the Draft to write us out.
I agree. We were mismanaged. Once you get past the "Wow everyone is leaving the Jets LOL" trolls. We are moving direction because Idzik has not overpaid for everyone as of yet. I hope we pay for the players who really contribute and are worth their asking price in the future. Idzik better not spend money and picks on "pet projects" like getting Tebow.
Idzik has not overpaid because he has no money. That's not being a great GM. That is accepting reality. Now could he have restructured a lot of contracts and pushed cap money into the future? Yes, but that would be asinine. He is doing no different than a bunch of message board GMs would. He is doing the obvious.
Landry hurts,I will admit. Scott is done and will not be missed. He was a liability in coverage and could not stop the fast rb's that gashed us last year Keller wasn't around much last year Greene, yea those 3 yards a carry are going to be tough to replace Pouch was out a lot last year and is 34 with a back problem. Now did Landry really win us 2-3 games last year? I am sorry I can't wallow in your misery but I don't see where we got that much worse from last year. We are going to be faster on defense and have an offense that turned the career 55% passer in Vick into a 60% passer
Since management is throwing away the season, I hope we give Rex another shot in 2014 which a much more talented roster Its not fair to give him the axe if this season is already a wash before it has even started
