from what i have gathered about the landry's through interviews, they are all tough sons of bitches. their dad used to make them box each other to settle disputes. he would give them gloves, and ref the fight, and they had to go all in. abusive childhood aside, they are all hard working guys who are not afraid of contact and will never shy away from a fight. definitely the types of guys you want on your football team.
This just in: because certain fans have no basis on reality or clue how the cap works, Goodell today announced that the NY Jets will be granted a 250 million dollar cap while the other 31 teams will only be permitted 123 mil.
pretty much the way seattle did it pete's first year.bring in as many players as you can without commitiing a bunch of money.keep filling the roster until you have the right players and are able to cut the wrong players without cap implications. this way your not stuck with a player who's contract out lived his skill and a major cap hit if he's cut. it's a solid plan for this year
Tell me how the cap works? According to you, the only flexability the jets have is to sign shitty players to minimum contracts? That's the only way we can field a team correct? Anyway..I'm glad so many people on here are all in on the tear down and rebuild of the team. I hope It works. I just feel its going to be a shitty few years as we basically field an expansian team.
I don't disagree at all in theory.. While everyone is cool with this idea I don't think anyone understand when you go about it like this, it takes years.. There no patiance. Once we go 3/13 this year, everyone will be screaming again for mass firings. Lol that's all I'm saying. I understand the jets are in"cap hell" but the fact is, these contracts that are given out are all meant to manipulate the cap. The players and front office neithor side ever has any intention of honoring the full terms of the deal. Finallly the excitment here is based on the fact, that for once were going to draft well. The jets usually never do, regardless of who's making decesions. There is an awful history with the jets and the draft. All I have seen about idzik is he's another"cap specialist" scouting department needs to be better, the people making these choices historically have been awful. So if we miss on the draft next 2 years, then where are we?
why do you think this is a 3-13 team? we were 6-10 with the worst qb in the leeague. who did we lose from last year that is going to cost us 3 more games?
I don't think we were good last year-we don't have a qb, the orginization is filling in any guys they can find that will play for bare minimum. Not that we lost guys that were so great. But teams that were decent got allot better. Look at the scedule(not an easy one) tell me nesides the bills what games you think the jets will look good in
browns and raiders off the top of my head. look,i am not predicting a w.c.spot and 11 wins. but i don't think we will be playing meaningless games by thanksgiving either. rex is going to field a defense that will keep us in games. all it takes is a closer to average offense than we had last year and this team can atleast be competitve week in and week out. when you considere that m.m. has never been the o.c. of a below average offense there is no reason not to be a little optimistic. come on in off the ledge, we are jet fans . we have been through way worse than anything that can happen this year :beer:
