Lets hope so. Nothing would be finer than to see him holding a clipboard. Eat all the hotdogs you want on the sidelines. Glamour boy.
The writing is on the wall. if we sign Kolb its almost certain Sanchez will be cut June 1. With Kolb. Garrard. McElroy and a likely flier QB draft pick in rounds 2-5 there is no room for Sanchez.
We're paying for him if he's on the roster or not we might as well give him a chance to fight for the starting job. I think McElroy is going to be the odd man out in this QB carousel
Because of the guarantee of Marks base salary it does not matter if he is a June 1st designation or not. We will still owe him the 8.25 mill base and the cap charge will still be the same. The only thing the June first designation does is accelerate the rest of the bonus charges into next year instead of this season. I fully expect to see mark in camp this year, Kolb or no Kolb on the roster.
I don't think they want him in camp. This is a guy who single handidly got Tanny fired and Rex almost fired. If they have 2 viable replacements for him there is no room or need for him. Add in a round 2-5 draft pick and there is no definitely no room. I would think they want to move on from Sanchez. Having him around will be just be a distraction. It is time to turn the page and move on. Yes the charge over 2 years will be the same. Cutting him June 1 means only a 13 mill cap hit this year with 4 mill next year rather than 17 mill this year. Unless of course Sanchez is willing to take less than 8 million this year to get an immediate release so he has more time to catch on with someone else or in the CFL.
every time I think about Sanchez nowadays I picture those two guys from the draft - who knew that they were the wisest fans out there all along. I have seen plenty of disappointing jets drafts in my time but nothing disappoints me as much as Sanchez has - the only high pick QB we have ever taken that I have been around for and it looks like being a major, major bust.
There are lot of stories about those two kids that have been repeated on these boards. I don't know much of it. The kid on the left (in the pic posted by Jetfan76) is the Jets TV kid. He used to post some really horrible videos on this site of his weekly Jets analysis, alleged inside scoops with predictions. It was some very bad stuff. The guy on the right is his brother and people said he had a lot of money. I am sure here people could tell you a lot more about them. They both took quite a lot of grief about the draft day video. I think it was mainly because the Jet TV kid was so irritating and had spammed these boards so much. But they were both dead right about Sanchez. But drafting Sanchez is just another lesson that we should always listen to the scouting department. I can only think of two recent instances where the head coach overruled the scouting department. Sanchez and Ghoulston. Both picks really hurt the franchise.
It is pretty simple: bring in competition for Sanchez, may the best man start for the 2013 season. Hopefully it is Sanchez and he finally shows signs of life. If not, move on.
Is it true that Rex overruled the scouting department on trading up for Sanchez? Do you have any source for this info?
sanchez either starts or is a training camp cut. no way he gets beat out and stays on the roster. if something happens and he had to start mid season it would bring back the media circus and all the bad feelings from last year. right now i'd put it at 50-50 h starts. sign kolb and its 60-40 he is done
Are you paying attention? His salary means squat because we're breaking the team down over the next two seasons and rebuilding. Nobody wants to see Sanchez under center ever again for the Jets so there's no point in keeping him.
