No QB is gonna choose Larry Fitzgerald if he comes packaged with that crappy OL.

Finally some real QB competition. Think this guys has a real good shot to grab starting job from Sanchez & he'll most likely come with a cheap 1 or 2-year contract also.

He wouldn't take a cut from 11 mil this year which is why he was released. I doubt the Jets will want him at whatever realistic price he ends up asking for. There is only so much any team will be willing to tie up in lousy quarterbacks.

My guess is he'll be brought in on a 1 yr deal similar to what Cassel got

Knowing the Jets, they're going to sign him, and then Tebow is going to beat out Kolb, Garrard, and Sanchez for even more hilarious and depressing drama on the way to a 2-14 season.

Im onboard the Kolb train. This guy is a sleeper. Hes a QB you can build a franchise around.

It doesn't get any greener than the New York Jets, a team that has already discussed adding Kolb to their quarterback mix "at the right price."

Based on what? The guy couldn't succeed with Fitzgerald at WR. What is he going to do with lesser offensive talent (definitely qualifies in the Jets situation).

    His statline last year:

    109/183
    59.6%
    1169yds
    8TDs
    3INTs
1.6% of throws ending in INT

The only worrisome part is if he's injury prone. But he's not terrible and has played in MM system before. The system that got him a trade and big $$$

The fact that he succeeded in MM's system is a big plus. I have no doubt he'd be the Jets opening day starter. I'm just holding my breath on the building a franchise around him part.

My fear is that the Jets give this guy a real starters contract and lock us into him for the next five years rather than simply give him a contract that gives him an opportunity to earn the starter role while still exploring the draft.

His stats disagree with you. I won't sit here and say he's 'the answer' but I think he's a perfect stop gap on a 1 yr deal.

Oh I agree completely, I don't think we can build a franchise around hmi. But he could be a great stop gap until we draft a younger QB. We could even let the young QB this year or next year sit behind Kolb for a while, something I think QBs should do.

If its a one year deal I'm fine with it. If its a 5 year deal with a hefty signing bonus and lofty promises, I'm going to cringe. The Jets are desperate for a QB, I wouldn't put it past them to do something crazy here.

If Kolb was a franchise QB, he'd be locked up with ARI.

Read the above posts thats what.

We cant fathom another fail year of Sanchez. Kolb was highly touted to replace Vick in Philadelphia then he got hurt. Hes a perfect fit here and will silence the doubters.

I notice you often are down on other prospects at Qb. Are you in this case really that familiar with Kolb's situation in AZ? I understand for example that he was hampered by some injuries, including him playing with turf toe. Others have mentinoed their awful OL. Yet you cherry pick out Larry Fitzgerald, as if Larry's presence was the only factor.

I also don't think the Jets can bring Marty in to run the O and then tell him he can't get Kolb assuming a reasonable deal can be reached. From all indications Marty wants him, has worked with him before and thinks he can succeed with him again. Marty no doubt has his own take on what happened in AZ.

The point here is not so much that we should not question Marty's judgment. But I for one felt hiring Marty was the one bright spot along with firing Tanny (who had to go) so far this off season. I thought he was the right choice. But whoever they had chosen, I don't see a team that just hired a new OC basically tell him they won't try to get an available Qb in that the OC wants.

All that makes me think it will happen. Otherwise they will I won't say be sabotaging Marty, but let's just say putting him at a disadvantage just as he's barely getting started.

I am no draft expert, but it is the common view I have no reason to argue with that the Jets will not likely find a Qb in the draft this year who is a promising prospect as a franchise Qb. Better prospects are next year.

That being the case, the Jets will want at least the flexibility of having a decent Qb on the roster entering next off season, available to start in 14 as well. Garrard's health and age make him problematic for that scenario, but Kolb looks like a good fit in it. Therefore I think they should sign him for a two year deal at least. That will make it more attractive for him to come here instead of somewhere else, too. If the Jets say only a one year deal, and another team offers more, he will not come to NY.

All good points. Two years would be good incase we either can't get a QB in next year's draft or, even if we do, that new QB isn't quite ready to jump in and handle it alone. Might need a veteran presence to help ease him in.

If we sign him for one year and then he bolts elsewhere and we still don't have a QB drafted who is going to play? Sanchez? Won't he be cut by then?

Yeah, two years sounds good to me.

I don't get the Garrard signing.

    Kolb I wouldn't mind.
