I agree, I don't want Rex fired at all. I hope him and MM have good chemistry. And I hope Rex sits in every damn offensive meeting too.

In Idzik I trust. Actually in Idzik I want to trust and he has my full support and confidence. He is breaking up a 6-10 and that's normal. No panic here.

Exactly. This is a six win team trending downhill with cap problems. No point in fine tuning this mess. Gut & Rebuild.

With some of the angst on this board, you'd think Idzik is tearing apart a 10-win playoff team.

06-Mangini and Shotty took the same kind of roster to the playoffs that the Jets will field in 2013.

Agree totally. I suspect Rex's head is close to exploding already. He is stupid loyal to veterans. Woody should have gone all the way.

Chad Pennington and a 4th place schedule.

The Jets caught the AFC South and the NFC North in down years with just the division winner over .500 in each division. Their 4th place opponents were the Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders who won 6 games between them in '06.

You put a competent QB on the field for the Jets next year and they might well go 10-6 against that '06 schedule. Instead they have the AFC North and the NFC South, both good divisions, and they play Tennessee and Oakland who are likely to combine for more than 6 wins next season.

I will reserve judgement until after the draft, but looking at Idzik's track record and how he's handling the cap and FA so far, I am pleased. No red flags yet.

I want Rex Ryan to stay past 2013, so I hope they give him at least a little talent to work with in '13. I also like and understand the approach Idzik is taking though, we must build thru the draft.

huge difference, chad pennington was healthy. Like he did every year he was healthy the jets won 10 games. qb situation is a disgrace and since were not going to resign anyone, or add anyone with high level talent. we should maybe win 4 games. look at the scedule. This should be a real embarassing year

Whether or not Rex stays on beyond this season will have less to do with his results on the field and moreso with how he handles himself in general and with the media. He has proven he can coach a talented team to success. If he can handle a 6-10 season gracefully and develop some guys then he gets my endorsement.

You and the truth seem to be perfect strangers. First you said Henne's performance against the Jet D proved that even a poor Qb could run up big numbers despite Revis playing. Only Revis wasn't in that game.

Now you said I said that Schotty was a good OC. This is just a flat out lie. I never said he was a good OC. I said he was a scapegoat for Sanchez Fans.

Take your own advice, meaning give it a rest, and try and be a more credible poster. I know it will be hard, but you just might be able to do it.

Poor QBs had success against the Jets in 2010. Colt McCoy, Pre-breakout Matthew Stafford, Chad Henne. Again, this is not saying the Jets were a bad defense team. They were inconsistent at times especially in the post-season. If the Jets D played consistently through-out the post-season we would of been SB champs that yr.

You defended Schottenheimer all throughout that age-old thread. I thought you were crazy, but now I know you are. My argument had nothing to do with Mark Sanchez, we all know he isn't good as Chad Pennington and Brett Favre. Yet they both had awful seasons under his "tutelage" The moment they left, they had great seasons with a true OC. I mean, for God sakes you think Kyle Orton is a good QB.

I suggest you take a few days off buddy it's ok to be wrong. Couple deep breaths and a beer should do you good.

The only thing that I haven't liked so far is the handling of the Revis situation. If the media reports are true (and you can never be sure of that, especially when it comes to coverage of the Jets) they haven't even talked to his agents, avoided them at the combine, etc. Even if you have absolutely no intention of re-signing him whatsoever I don't think you have to act like a jilted school girl about it. You should still talk to them, be cordial, etc. for two reasons 1) it may help you in the long run when you say you have a deal worked out for him or it falls through and you have to sign him and 2) other teams/players are watching, if you treat your star player like that why would other players want to come here?

Maybe it's a directive right from Woody (wouldn't be surprised) but other than that there's no real reason for it in my mind.

So far I've liked everything else he's said and done (or not done in free agency). The big test is the draft. I'm kind of against drafting a QB this year (try next year, might be some better talent) and not huge on picking up Kolb...but even if he does one of those things I guess I'll just have to hope that his talent evaluation is a lot higher than mine (probably) and that he knows what he's doing.

Dont see anything wrong with the way the GM and HC are handling the situation. Do not trust half baked media inputs. Revis and his agent are difficult at best and unreasonable in their demands. Both know Revis does not fit salary wise in a major rebuilding team and making it look like they are not in the loop. Revis has been talked to, but until the Jets can agree on compensation, Revis can not and should not negotiate with other teams.

I'm loving what Idzik is doing right now. I just hope that if he is the right guy for the job that Woody gives him the time he needs to turn this team into a contender. We're clearly rebuilding and a GM needs more than 2 years to do that..

Tearing down isn't the same thing as rebuilding. I'm going to love what Idzik is doing when the Jets are regularly beating the best teams in the NFL. Right now there's nothing to love. The guy hasn't made one decision to improve the club yet.

the jets went all-out and made it to two straight conference championships. then they fell apart. now it's time to re-build. luckily, in the nfl, a rebuild can happen quickly with a good structure and a couple good drafts. there is hope.

That's not true. Fixing the cap IS a decision to improve the club. The Jets can't live on salary cap debt forever.

And how do you know this? Because the "all-knowing media" says they aren't talking to Revis that means it must be true? Maybe Idzik is smarter than you think and is talking to the Mevis team while at the same time negotiating a trade. Looking at the FA market for corners and the low salaries they are getting maybe the Mevis camp is getting nervous. Idzik could be playing the Mevis camp against the Bucs to see which way he comes out better. Maybe the Mevis team makes an offer to Idzik for a reasonable extension and he can decide which is best for the team, extending him or trading him.

I love how everyone on this board knows exactly what is and is not going on behind closed doors.
