They do cost money but I am pretty sure players can fit in under decent salary. They should have decent cap space not anything huge but cutting Po'uha and restructuring Holmes and Cromartie should help them out somewhat. Maybe I am not understanding. But I think there will be plenty of room to sign decent- mid level players.
If we sign both Barnes and Butler, I hope that we go offensive line with the 9th pick, Fisher, Warmack, or Cooper.
If Jordan falls to 9 and we don't pick him..we should storm the castle at Florham Park. Personally I think we should package Revis and the 9 to KC to get up to 1 and take Jordan.
Agreed, if we use up the bulk of our available free agent money on not one but two OLBs, we have other priorities that need to be addressed in round one.
Faster and better. And the idea is not to score huge, we cannot do that, thanks to Mr. T. and our albatross QB. Just get better. We can do better than Shonn Greene, who takes the first half of the season off. We can do better than Dustin Keller, who cannot block and is a dumbass. We can do better than Slauson. We cannot improve on Revis and Landry, probably. Moore is probably better than whoever we bring in, but he is old. I do not foresee disaster this year. Getting a 2014 first for Revis instead of a 2013 might be a godsend. It might allow us to trade up next year for a good QB.
money but not alot of money and we have plenty of cap room now, enough to sign those two and still have plenty of space. Witch is why i dont understand why Tebow is still on the roster cutting him would clear 1mill or so or even more i forget the number
Manish Mehta Price point will be primary issue w/all UFAs visiting Jets. #NYJ looking to offer former Chargers OLB Antwan Barnes about $2M/yr, I'm told
i like the idea of barnes and butler and pollard. would also suggest taking a look like laron's brother dwan. he was let go from jax and could be a servicable starter at the right place
Lets hope he leaves today signed. He produced 11 sacks a few years ago, hopefully he can do it again.
Yup, forgot about the other Landry. We know Rex loved him I'm Baltimore. It all depends on the cash though. I don't know about signing both Pollard and Landry though. We haven't had a true FS in a while. Maybe sign one and use Bush or a rookie at FS?
definitely not both.we need to always be developing young players at every level. so d.landry/pollard and bush/ rookie would be great this year
You're right. We seem to be about $15 under the cap, though some of that has to be reserved for rookies.
yeah thats what i meant. i still call last season as if were still in the 2012 season.. anyways, 11 sacks in 2011 when he only started 5 games is pretty good. played all 16 but only started 5. seems like it would be a good signing.
Barnes is a solid OLB. If signed for the right price, he could be a good piece for us. I do not want to over pay for him though. I would rather draft someone. Idzik seems to make "good value" offers to players. I think you will see us gobble up some role players towards the end of free agency without over paying a "good" player "great" player money.
i hope we also get butler...but looks like he is gaining more interest on the market...luckily by the equally cap strapped steelers...but one would think money equal he would goto PITT.
