Ironically enough, even though not a FA, the best player available free agent or trade is already on the team in Revis. Funny how that worked out... I like how Idzik is rolling. There were really no FA's I personally liked other than Long, Bush or Jackson. We couldn't afford Long, Bush was not coming and Jackson wants a contender. Idzik has been hamstrung in dealing with Revis and clearly they do not want Keller (unless they feel he is too expensive). Best to pick up a few solid contributors and target the draft. Idzik has my support until he has flushed that trust over time.
This is pretty much what I've been telling my friends who are also abt to jump off a bridge because we're sitting around doing nothing. I find it funny that the same people who are complaining abt us doing nothing, are the same ones who last season said, "blow it up!" We're def gonna have a different team on the field next year and I like how he's approaching FA. I would've loved it had we signed Daniels, but I really hope we land Gibson. Competition will def make this team better be t season, and once we deal Revis, the draft picks should be able to come in and help right away. He certainly has the future in mind. If u ask me, he's pretty much distancing himself from the way Rex wants to do things. You think Rex wanted to lose these many ppl on the defensive side of the ball??? We're going to get younger while putting Rex to the test. If he's as good a coach...or defensive-minded coach as he says he is, then coach up a young team to perform to the same level the vets last year did. I'm already looking forward to the Draft.
I like the fact that Idzik is going to work with what he has without costing us the future. Tanny would draft guys and throw them away or not even start them and go out and get someone else. I mean we drafted two safeties and we signed two safeties in the same off season, who does that? I mean I like Landry and Bell (great signings at the time) but why draft Bush and Allen? Let's see how he fairs in the draft this year to see if we can at the very least get 3 impact starters that improve the team, if he does not do that with the draft I will be disappointed.
This is going in the right direction. A complete gut and rebuild. I hope this is Idzik and Woodys doing. When we get rid of Wrecks then we can look to the future. I'll support the team this year. We are heading in the right direction. You got to tear it down to make it competive. :beer:
