This is definately great information,I would say he has to definately be gone by June 1st if not by This Sunday. We dont want any cap hit next year.

The safe move would be to trade him by Saturday.

Otherwise the next best scenario is After June 1st and Before Training Camp. That way one of the two scenarios happen:

    1) Revis has enough time to prove his health, upping the potential trade compensation (even though that compensation would be pushed into next year).

    OR

    2) Revis doesn't get back to health and his value drops like a brick, significantly increasing the odds the Jets let him just play out his contract.

I believe Revis has to void his own contract after this season correct? If the second scenario were to occur, wouldn't he want to not void the contract for financial reasons?

He should be gone by the end of the day.

The more the Jets wait the more suitors fall off. It should be done today.

Only if he has multiple options to void the contract and not just a single option after 2013.

I was under the impression that the voidable part of the deal was for something like $13mil/year not guaranteed?

The voidable portion is for $3M a year.

    Before March 17th

Cheapest way and the sooner the better... before any teams start going to thier 2nd choice.

The challenge is not in the Jets dragging their feet over trade compensation. It is in negotiating a long term deal with his new team, as that will surely be a condition for any trade involving high draft pick(s). His agents are assholes to negotiate with, and I see his long term contract demands as the major stumbling block in getting a trade done.

No team is going to spend high draft picks on a one year rental, and we'd likely get more in a compensatory pick by letting him walk next year. We'd also get the benefit of having him play another year for us. While I'm fine with a Revis trade, I'm not 100% sure it's going to happen.

What's the consensus on this forum? Do you want him to stay or go?

Lots of sites are running polls on the question of Revis staying or going. Just go look them up. I did a survey last night and the trend seemed to be running towards a Revis departure but not by insurmountable margins.

^^^ Most people think that a trade is necessary because we most likely won't be able to get a long-term deal with Revis (due to our Owner and Revis's holdouts) and losing him to free agency is the worst scenario.

That doesn't mean fans "want" him to leave the Jets, though. Far from it. It's just something that has to happen during a rebuilding, cap-stricken year.

Yep on all points. If Revis sees it as in his interest to make a trade work he's probably gone and if he doesn't, well he has a lot of options to consider.

in case anyone expects Revis' news today

Per NFL Network. Jets GM John Idzik isn't in the office, he's in Tuscaloosa for Alabama Pro Day. Don't expect any Revis news today.

I think it comes down to whether Revis is willing to wait a year (making just 6 million and risking injury) to make more money from free agency, or whether he wants to get a big contract now (just not as big as what he would get a year from now) and not have to risk a year for the money.

IMO, a trade now benefits Revis tremendously, assuming he is paid what he deserves (highest CB salary, NOT highest defensive player salary).

see ya later don't let the door hit your greedy ass on the way out.

I would love to see a 2nd this year and a 2nd which could become a 1st next year.

Conditional pick gets upgraded if he plays in 12 or more games or catches 2 ints during the season.

Very reasonable, concidering the other team will eat up a lot of cap space to pay his ass.

I didn't realize that Idzik didn't carry a cell phone or was incapable of multitasking.

With anybody but Revis, yeah, however with Revis the question of what he deserves seems to be a year-to-year conversation. When Revis retires it isn't going to be because he can't play any more. It's going to be because nobody wants to deal with the BS that comes alongside that.

Terrell Owens but from a different angle. Probably about the same age as TO too, 35 or so.
