@AdamSchefter Dolphins keep on trying to make splash: Jets free-agent TE Dustin Keller will visit the Miami Dolphins. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/56132/will-dolphins-add-te-dustin-keller May lose another we cant afford to keep and to a division rival non the less.
I'll be honest here, I will be stoked if the Dolphins can land him. Keller is the guy I wanted from the start. More valuable then Cook IMO. Sorry guys but my fingers are crossed here.
this would bea tough blow. That Miami receiving corps will be outstanding w/ the addition of keller and w/ us getting rid of Revis it may not be pretty. If we can keep revis I have no worried but it doesn't sound like that is hapepning. Don't do it Dustin, don't ruin your career by putting on those girly colors
Dolphins offense is interesting. Plus Wallace and maybe Keller, minus Bush and Long. I'm curious to see if they'll be that much better.
I'm not worried about Wallace. Cro can take care of Wallace, but Keller would kill us in Miami. This is a dumb DUMB move to not re-sign Keller.
Keller is certainly productive but he's also very frustrating at times. Considering his production level he isn't particularly clutch and has a habit of dropping some easy passes here and there. He's someone you feel like should be elite but just isn't quite there...
If you were Keller< would you resign with the Jets? I wouldn't. How much is his career being negatively impacted by playing on an offensively challenged team? I knew Keller was gone.
Sadly you are right,I always felt Keller would have been a probowler if he were on an explosive offensive team with a good QB.
I don't know how to quantify it and I damn sure am not gonna watch any film or research it but for years we heard on TGG from the Phins fans that Long was a top 5 LT and now that he's not going to be on the team he is not so irreplaceable. IMO, LT and a dynamic RB are a big components to go missing. How they will fill RT (since the RT is moving to the left) we don't know but we do know Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas haven't been too shabby in their limited playing time. I'm sure Tannehill will benefit from having Wallace though. If they land Keller, well then they have a below average to average blocking TE which isn't good compounded on losing the LT. Keller will be relied on upon to help out with the new RT's blocking responsibilities. Fasano was a decent blocker, right? But still, when healthy, Keller is a pretty nice receiving TE so as long as they protect Tannehill, he will reap the rewards of two new downfield weapons minus a great receiving threat out of the backfield. I have to say on offense (without assuming they get Keller) it's all a wash, but it's still early in FA and they have a good amount of early picks.
Keller was and still is in my opinion the priority resign target for the Jets. Above Landry. Moore would be pretty close too.
Different skillset ... Fasano is a great blocker and a good receiver but does not have the speed that Keller/Cook/etc have. They want a high octane offense
He is a real seam threat, something they couldn't get out of Fasano. He fits what Philbin wants in a TE. I'll take the drops that goes with the production. Whenever we played the Jets he was always the one that beat us consistently.
You'll eventually see what I mean. A moment will come where you become disillusioned with him. The idea of him > the reality.
not worried about Wallace? Wallace is a game breaker and schooled Cro in the end zone last year. I do not want Keller in Miami and agree on that. I'll say, the Dolphins are having the best offseason in the NFL on both sides of the ball IMO.
don't get over hyped. Keller can go on tears for a few games at a time then disappears for an equal amount of games or makes dumb ass plays. It has yet to be seen if that was because of the Jets offense or if it's just Keller. I'll never forget him running out of bounds in the 4th quarter Week 1 opening day in 2010 short of the sticks on 4th down with nobody near him.
