Just trying to gauge everyone's thoughts on the Dolphins and the moves they have made. What are your thoughts for next season with their new acquisitions?
As far as I'm concerned, they made one move - WR Mike Wallace. They cut 2 good linebackers and replaced them with 2 good linebackers... It's a wash. I think Wheeler is better than Burnett, Dansby better than Ellerbe. The one move of Wallace is nice, but they've got a lot of holes. Jake Long is leaving which weakens two spots (LT and now RT as Martin will move over). They lost their TE, will lose their RB, and will probably need to add two starting corners after Sean Smith leaves (a very good player). I really don't see what the addition and subtraction at linebacker was all about when there are so many other needs. They didn't get better at LB IMO.
Agree on all accounts here. It's funny because they went out and signed a WR but are losing their tackle who protects the QB. Cromartie seems to know how to shut down Wallace but we need someone on the other end to play with Hartline. If you stop Wallace, they are actually, in my opinion, worse than they began. Like you said, they lost a RB and TE. Without a TE the running game suffers and the passing game struggles.
They're last years Bills ...except maybe even less "improved". Tannehill is still very unproven, Wallace isn't worth 12m, the LB situation brought in some youth but no obvious improvements otherwise, they lost their RB who averaged nearly 1,000 yards over the past 2 seasons and are currently hoping a guy with a 3.x ypc average will replace him. No TE, Hartline isn't even a #2 IMO, need both tackles, Martin was NOT good. No corners, only 1 safety. So, even after spending all the money they did they are still missing 2 starting corners, a tackle, a WR, a TE, an RB, and a safety. They're not poised to be a good team. Edit: I'm a Pats fan, not just blindly hating on them, they're still as irrelevant as ever to my team in the AFCE so thats my honest, not envious, position.
Sounds like the Patsie fan realizes his team is no longer going to rule this division. Mike Wallace will eat the secondaries of the AFC East alive, Hartline will get to face #2 corners this year, and Bess is a good slot man. Lamar Miller averaged about 5 ypc, and thats who will be taking over for Reggie if they look in-house. Charles Clay was the tight end that was used the most last year and they have the 12th overall pick, 2 2nd rounders and 2 3rd rounders. Tannehill is still unproven, but he has proven that he is capable. The Dolphins have arguably one of the top 3 front 7's in football, will more than likely be returning 4 out of 5 starters on the oline. Right now the glaring hole is at corner, but the Fins still have money and plenty of draft picks. In the draft they will address OT, pass rusher, CB. Bye Bye Patriots.

Have you wondered after these rookies have a year of tape for DC's there efficient play drops? I.E Cam Newton?
We shall see. If Tannehill can hit a deep ball then the Wallace signing will pay off. Last year it was hard to tell with Hartline as the #1. I just don't want to see him turning into a malcontent like Marshall did once he realized Henne was garbage. I also worry that Ellerbe was much better for the Ravens than he ever will be for us. Who knows at this point. Everybody's right about the needs we still have. I think Martin will be able to fill in adequately at LT but now we will still need a RT. Miller might not be able to do what Bush did. HUGE need at CB and we could use a pass rusher opposite Wake If the free agents pan out and we hit on a couple draft picks and Tannehill progresses we could be in the wild card mix but all those are big ifs.
The dolphins will continue to blow. Mike Wallace did have 9 more yards receiving than kerley last year though ... so yeah.

Wallace did not have a great year last year but still is one of the top WRs in the NFL statistically since 2009! 2nd in TDs behind Megatron 2nd in YPC behind DeSean Jackson 2nd in plays of 25+ yards behind Megatron 10th in Yardage over that time All that with a down year last year. I think we overpaid but he is certainly what we needed. I wanted Cook at TE but maybe we can get Keller or draft a seam threat to go with Clay at H-back type of role. I think Miller can do the job at RB as he showed in flashes last year in spot duty, it remains to be seen how he is in a more featured role. Wallace, Hartline, and Bess make a good trio IMO and it's all on Tannehill to develop and take the next step.
And Brandon Gibson if y'all don't sign him. Tannehill will have no excuses this year. Year 2 and with weapons and a chemistry guy in Hartline. Draft a RT and let's see what he's got.
Their LT was of no use to them because he was injured a lot, I can see why they let him go, good move in my opinion. They will probably draft Oline and RB in the draft. Can we wait 2 more years for RT to prove himself. I think they are doing the right thing, sign positions that are not deep in the draft and use the depth in the draft for other needs.
lol at the Dolphins trying to be relevant. But they're a tropical version of NFL siberia and truly small fries. They'll end up like their brothers over their, the Miami Marlins The Wallace thing will blow up in their faces. That is a TON of money for someone who never caught more than 72 passes in a season, and slumped badly last year in YPC which was his bread and butter
I really don't see how Tannehill shouldn't take a huge step forward. This Dolphins offense will be as loaded as it will ever be, especially if ya get a TE like Keller. One of my closest friends is a Dolphins fan, and I tell him that I'm excited for ya next year. IMO I can't see the Dolphins win in the playoffs though. I see them like the Bengals, good regular season team, but too inexperienced to win in the playoffs. Obviously this is just what I see when I think about it, bit honestly, I wish ya luck. We'll be back in the mix soon.
Come on man. Trying to be relevant? Coming from the team that traded for Tebow? The sad truth is we haven't been relevant in years and Wallace doesn't bring that. As a matter of fact, I think Brandon Marshall is a better WR than Wallace but Wallace has the skillset that this team desperately needs and did not have last year.
