Manish Mehta Jets freed up about $4.2M in 2013 by restructuring Cromartie's contract. However, his cap charge increases by about $4.2M in 2014. #nyj Me likey!!
All he did was get his money up front and delay the cap hit a year. It's an ok, not great move for us.
What do you think we would get from the Bucs for Revis? if we can get a first round pick that would be huge. We can sign an OLB in Victor Butler or Connor Barwin. Use 1 1st rounder on an OLB and a second on a TE? or Safety? 1st- Jarvis Jones/ Dion Jordan/ Mingo (I know not a lot of people like him on this board) but a OLB 1st (revis trade)- Zach Ertz from Stanford i love this guy 2nd- Matt Elam from Florida We also re sign landry i think were in pretty good position Do you agree?
I would LOVE Dion Jordan, but there is no way in hell he lasts until 9. No way. Jarvis Jones is still 'iffy in my book. That injury is scary. There are also reports that we are in serious talk about getting Mingo. I would love that move also
Very true. Next years cap has a lot more ways to save if we are willing to part ways with vets like Holmes or Harris.
Correct. Next year we probably will have much more wiggle room. Not to mention, Sanchize will be gone after this season. We needed the cap savings this year. So this move helped a good deal
Don't count that chicken before it hatches. If by some miracle MM makes him look like a competent QB this year we could still be looking at having him around.
The latest reports on Jones is that there is no injury and he was mis diagnosed at USC. The evidence is that it was a contusion or a stinger that healed, not spinal stenosis. With that said, I think Jones rates above Jordan. His tape is far superior when it comes rushing the QB. From there it depends on which freak with upside goes first, Jordan or Ansah. I'm just hoping one of them makes it to us.
Wow, I just read that article. That would be insane if Jones or Jordan were there when it comes our turn. That would be killer to finally draft a pass rusher.
Rich Cimini Cromartie restructure pushes $4M into '14. Idzik, cap guru, breaks out the credit card -- risky approach. Now, #Jets roughly $16M under cap. Looks like we are $16 million under right now. Green side up baby, green side up!!
A lingering back issues that saw him not play much last season and a 3.8 mill cap savings. Pouha was an easy cut.
Jets had about $8.3M in cap space going into today. They cut Pouha which brought space up to about $12M. Then they got Holmes to take a $3.5M haircut and the cap space went to $15.5M. With the Cromartie restructure the Jets have almost $20M to work with. On the day the 2014 cap basically got an additional $4.2M from the Cromartie restructure but the 2013 cap gained more than $11M. That's really professional cap management. Push a little into the future but get most of the savings out of today however you have to do that.
Think Idzik is gonna wait till the last second to cut Tebow. Or at least wait until he's desperate for that extra cap space to make a FA signing. Considering how shrewd he's been so far, it wouldn't surprise me if he's still hoping to get a Tebow trade offer.
I'd hate to see us blow our load on a sexy FA just to steal some headlines. I'm hoping we make smart decisions and sign a few guys who really have potential to grow with this team and can solidify some areas that we are really lacking at.
Yes, 16 million under and 4 starters left on defense..Wilkerson, Harris, Cromartie and Revis or Wilson depending on what happens there...not looking good.
WOn't break the bank maybe... yesterday some crazy deals went through! I wonder if we go after one btween Burnett/Dansby...
