I consider him a luxury because of Coples, we can get some younger talent along the defensive line. I agree D-Line depth is important, but there's no point in paying a man 2-3 million when he's sitting on the bench and not starting. I like DeVito, but I don't see him in the team's future plans. Productive yes, but I don't see him as a major priority.
Allegedly not big enough to play in the 4-3 scheme (as per http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/10/jets-are-expected-to-make-a-push-for-victor-butler/).
So it looks like the Phins aren't going to re-sign Bush (http://tracking.si.com/2013/03/10/dolphins-wont-resign-bush/?sct=uk_t2_a4) With the new Offense coming in I could see a fairly huge role for someone with Bush's talents. Thoughts???
I wouldn't be opposed to Reggie Bush, but the question is, will the Jets be able to afford him. The thing is we might have what Reggie Bush would offer to the Jets already on the roster in McKnight, but he is dreadfully underused.
if he can come in cheap and work as a receiver than welcome Mr.Bush, otherwise? pass, get an appropriate RB in the draft.
Seriously.theres no way Reggie Bush would come here for many reasons money being top on the list. The lions will make him a decent offer if they dont someone else will. Its the last big contract of his carrer he isnt coming here
This year is all about the draft for the Jets. In the UFA market i hope we target vets on a short term deal to stabilize a young team. We need a pass rusher off the right side... Harrison? We need a smart sure handed receiver... Jennings?
Unfortunately, Jennings is going to want to get PAID as well...not sure about Harrison. I'm not sure his play will offset the amount of penalties and fines he's going to incur. Not sure. I think, MAYBE, we just stick with the draft and hope we can move Revis and grab a few more picks.
There are a lot of FA's wanting to get paid. The economics of the situation are that teams are looking to the draft to fill needs. There are going to be a lot of sulky players not getting what they think they deserve this offseason.
Reggie Bush is not an option. Don't even bother with "I'd be interested if he didn't ask for too much". Unless something big changes with their cap (like trading away Cro) Jets need to aim much lower when it comes to FA this offseason.
It's gonna be really hard to squeeze in both those guys with Jets current cap situation. http://www.nyjetscap.com/salary.html http://www.nyjetscap.com/2013_Articles/jets-salary-cap-part3.html
I am surprised and pleased that Landry made it through the year uninjured. He has had some ongoing Achilles thing, I think. Those things eventually snap. I love the way he plays, but--- of course, his would go two games into a long term contract----provided it was with us.
DeVito is solid, but I think REx is probably lobbying for him because he loves him. Not good enough. Fact is, DeVito is going to get more than he is worth. Jets have to concentrate on not overpaying, particularly for support guys.
Neither will be on the Jets. We aren't going to be able to afford household names. You are targeting the right positions though, Pass Rusher - Victor Butler Smart sure handed receiver - Jordan Shipley?
