I never really liked E.J. Manuel much in college. I get that he has some tools, and given our quarterback situation, I wouldn't completely hate taking a 3rd or 4th in this draft strictly out of need. But I feel that way about most of the quarterbacks in this draft, and I don't particularly like any one of them.
Finally! A rational minded individual. As I've said in my previous posts, HE SUCKS. The combine is the combine, but I've watched this guy play in real games against upper echelon teams and he blows!! I'm telling you, EJ Manuel is NOT an NFL starting QB. End of story!
Tom Brady? Seriously, I wouldn't put money on the field of prospects considered to be decent all being gone by the Jets 6th round pick. The guys who are almost certainly going before the 6th round: Geno Smith Matt Barkley Ryan Nassib EJ Manuel Tyler Austin The guys who could still be there because of some deficit that the NFL collectively assigns them at this point: Landry Jones (mental toughness) Mike Glennon (arm strength) Tyler Bray (skinny, accuracy, immaturity) Zac Dysert (accuracy, arm strength) Sean Renfree (injury means he likely will be there) Obviously some of those guys will go mid-rounds or earlier but the odds are that one is just hanging out on the Jets early 6th round pick. Maybe more than one if somebody else gets hot between now and the draft and jumps into the group.
Ryan Nassib is good and he's not super accurate like Morton Wig mentioned QBs not needing to be super accurate. But he's tough, can play outdoors, is kind of a gunslinger and play maker. He's got a little Favre/Cutler in him.
Lol, but you can? I guess Mike Mayock and a ton of other scouts cant scout QBs... Its a good thing you can though.
Like I said Sean Renfree. I am not implying he will be Tom Brady of course, but he should be left behind like your scenario portrayed.
If we sign the dream team (*cough*) of Quinn and Garrard, I can't see us drafting a QB in any round. McElroy got some experience last season so some 7th round scrub is unlikely to tear it up.
I agree, Tavon Austin is the guy I want in the 1st round and the type of guy that Mortigwig is used to building an offense for (DeSeason Jackson, Jeremy Maclin etc) I would rather move down a few spots, get another pick and grab Austin then take Mingo as all the drafts seem to suggest
none of our needs matter if we dont find a QB. no team has ever won with the worst QB in football starting.
