Last year, he was the wrong type of back for Sparano. If you back to 2011 Schottenheimer used him in spots to spell Greene, and also fairly effectively in passing situations. That's why you should expect to see more of him this year. They'll return to a zone blocking scheme, and he'll be more useful given the bent of the offense. Read Mohrinwegs quotes in today's papers.
Like I said ... I thought it was completely bogus as well when I first heard it. But having the perspective of the rest of his career gives it credibility. SOMEBODY has to be the guy who has the most INT's dropped each season. If they tell me it was Sanchez in 2010, I believe them. Especially since his track record does nothing to make me think they're crazy. Face it ... the guy throws interceptions. MANY of them. Too many to live with.
Top 10 is a stretch. I'll give you 15. This stat would be meaningful if Brady wasn't right at 15, Joe Montana was at 13 to 14, Flacco right at 15, Eli at 10-11. The QBs with high PPG in playoff losses are Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Big Ben. The stat really has no relevance. Teams that lose usually don't score a lot, hence that's why they lost. The defense was impressive that IND game. Special teams came throw after the offense had two shots to close the door on IND. Great all around win, but the offense was garbage in that 1st half against IND Brady, Manning, Rivers, Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Big Ben, Schaubb, Kyle Orton, Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Jay Cutler I have over Sanchez. Maybe Flacco below Sanchez but that still leaves Sanchez top 15. I think top 10 is a slight stretch. Most of the QBs above were asked to do more than Sanchez nad played better than him so I have to give them the nod. Lots of injured QBs this year also
Manning has many more losses though, a bad game here or there happens but he has been consistently bad in most playoff losses. Manning has 11 playoff losses in 12 apps Montana had 7 in 11 apps Brady 7 in 10 apps Manning has led his high powered Os to 14.8 PPG, he's been one and done 8 times Montana: 13.4 BUT he didn't finish THREE games and he went one and done just 4 times. He was knocked out early at NYG '86, removed vs. Minny '87 and left in the 4th vs. NYG '90 so the #s are skewwed b/c of that, if they score just 2 more TDs in those 3 games his average goes well over 15 PPG. Brady: 17 PPG, one and done just 2 times. Flacco and Eli belong nowhere near this discussion.
The simple fact is, Sanchez Can put the ball on the numbers, and comes up big in big spots. and he's never had a decent OC. No one knows anything for sure, until this season pans out.
None of this factors in that beating Peyton at home is difficult and the Jets defense and special teams made Sanchez's life easier in that playoff game. Sanchez threw away 3 points in the first half and we were shut out in the first half offensively. Our return to our run game got us in the game and after the D got a stop late on Peyton, the offense had two chances to get a 1st down and didn't convert either time then the defense gave up a 50 yard FG, Cro made a long kickoff return, Sanchez completed one huge pass, and thankfully Nick Folk didn't Doug Brien us. Everything came together for us on our last possession including that IND coach calling a TO that left everyone scratching their heads. That first simple fact is not true recently. He consistently missed receivers on the numbers on simple crossing routes. Put the ball in front of the receiver, you get some YAC, he routinely made that catch more difficult than it should be for his WRs. Second he's come up in a big spot maybe twice in the last two years, NE this year and BUF the year before. We are 1-1 in those games. He had a must win game in TEN and threw 4 picks. We had a must win game two years ago in MIA and he threw 3 picks. Agreed on the OC. Slightly agree. There is more evidence that Sanchez's ceiling is an average QB but obviously you can't know for 100%
He's ONE game over .500 at home in his career in postseason so how difficult is it really? at home in playoffs: Peyton 6-5 Brady 11-3 Montana 10-1 It's tough to beat Brady or Montana on the road in the playoffs, not tough to beat Peyton Manning. we missed on those 3rd downs b/c Holmes dropped an easy catch for a 1st down. The last drive Sanchez led us into chip shot range, got a great return by Cro but Peyton had a similar scenario in 2005 vs. Pitt and failed to get a chip shot attempt for his kicker who then missed.
Sanchez had plenty shitty plenty of times to diminish the good things he has done. Sanchez has played well in the playoffs that is why he is 4-2 on the road. He played shitty last season and needs to play well early to remain a jet. Why is this so hard. If you think Quinn, Garrard and others are the answer you are mistaken. If sanchez sucks again the jets are screwed for a few years.
Another awesome stat from nyjunc. Sanchez played the Colts defense in 2010 which was ranked 20th in total D, and 23rd in points allowed. Peyton faced the Steelers D in 2005 which was ranked 4th in total D and 3rd in points allowed. After the fumble return, Manning led his team 30 yards against a 3rd ranked D for a 46 yard FG attempt. Sanchez led his team 38 yards against a 23rd ranked D for a 32 yard FG attempt. Both were makable kicks. Sanchez leading his team to 8 more yards against a much worse defense and Manning's kicker missing a makeable FG really proves a lot. :rofl2:
who cares? Peyton in 2005 also had Edgerrin james, reggie Wayne, Marvin harrison, dallas Clark- did Mark have a single player the caliber of any of those guys? Sanchez led his team to a chip shot FG, Peyton(after getting the gift of the fumble and return to near midfield after failing on downs deep in Indy territory) had 2nd and 3rd and 2 from the Pitt 28 and thrww it to the EZ each time rather than get his K closer so they settled for a 46 yd FG- makebale? absolutely but chip shot? NOPE especially for a shaky pressure kick like Vanderjagt.
Did you seriously just say that you would choose Sanchez, out of every QB in the league, to lead your team? Please tell you didnt just say that...
I watched about 8 games in the last two weeks, and he can put the ball on the numbers. One of his problems is sometimes....that's not where the ball belongs. He does not throw guys open enough.
All Mark Sanchez has to say is that hes elite this offseason and JETS win the SB. Heck, it worked for the last two that did it.
With a better QB I feel we would have won at least 1 SB. He did not lose if for us but he did and could not win a game for us either.
Sanchez has proven he cannot put the ball on the numbers, and can't come up in small spots, let alone big spots. It has absolutely nothing to do with the OC. Sanchez is dog shit, has played like dog shit, and will show that he is dog shit if any coach is stupid enough to let him take the field. It's getting very tired to see you delusional people make the same tired excuses for Sanchez. There is absolutely no doubt that you people will be trotting out the same worthless excuses for Sanchez after he shits the bed again this year. Face it, he is far and away the worst QB in football! The guy is a disgrace to the uniform.
Nope, he asked if I would want him if we had the best team in the league. he didn't ask if I wanted him over Brady, Rodgers, etc... I disagree, we didn't lose either title game b/c of the QB and maybe we don't even get to either if we had other QBs like a Philip Rivers who presses too much in big games.
About 4 regular season comebacks in 2010 had WAY more to do with Santonio Holmes than Sanchez. Somebody please describe to me these comeback wins in 2010...which games were they? Tell me what you think Sanchez's role was on the final drive, and during the game as well...
that one is right up there with 27th ranked but top 10 best... and who exactly is supposed to take this guy seriously? i gotta say i am glad that you guys quote him sometimes for the humor of it. im also so glad that i dont see his posts real time because i dont end up responding to him.. which makes my visits to tgg much more enjoyable.
